Just got a new passport,

In country on a 30 day stamp,

Got nice letter from embassy to Thai immigration to transfer stamp to new passport..

Question, Do I need to go to local Thai immigration to transfer stamp to new passport??

Or can this be done at airport departure immigration? fee required??

thanks

No need to go to immigration, they won't do anything. Just show both passports on departure.

Bit of an updated for ya....

When I was leaving Thailand last week at Phuket airport,

I Presented my two passports old and new....

Told officer I got new passport at Bangkok embassey,

Immigration officer grabs old passport and can not find my entry stamp,

I show him its the folded page with the white exit form attached.

Next I hear stamp stamp stamp....

He stamped me out of the country on my canceled passport did not even notice old and new passport....

Arrogant bugger relised he messed up look at me like why I not tell him...??? Daaaaaa.....He not listen to me..

So off I go to back office and he explains his screw up to his boss then some female officer gets involved...

yip yap yip yap......I just sit smile and shut up..

Finally top guy officer explains to me I SHOULD HAVE gone to Phuket town immigration to transfer stamp,

then says this time I WILL TRANFER FOR YOU...

I know he is a bullcrap artist by the sly smile on his face...I just say Kaap Khun Caap...45 minutes later ..I exit the departure hall.

I get new passport back with one whole page wasted with transfered entry/exit stamp with a bunch hand writen in english un legible words.....

They never admittied they messed up stamping my expired passport and blamed me for the delay for not going to immigration in town on my own..

It seemed as if they had never done this transfer process before.........TIT

My advice if you have the time during your stay go to local immigration to sort/transfer your stamp from old to new passport,

it will save you precious time upon your departure at the airport.
