PATTAYA: -- Police Colonel Supatee, the Pattaya Police Chief, announced on Monday, the arrest of three Thai Nationals who are suspected of committing crimes against foreign tourists in Pattaya.

The first case relates to an alleged assault of a 59 year old Swiss Tourist, Mr. Henri Kaspar, at the Bali Hai Port area, by three street vendors. One of the suspects, Khun Suppachai aged 25, has now been arrested and claims that Mr. Kaspar purchased tobacco from him for 100 Baht.

After the sale, Mr. Kaspar was concerned that he had purchased Marijuana and demanded a refund. During an altercation, the suspect claims that Mr. Kaspar produced a Taser and used it on one of the vendors. Khun Suppachai claimed he struck Mr. Kaspar in self-defense. Mr. Kaspar denies the allegations made by the suspect.

In the second case, Police arrested Khun Sirintip and a 23 year old Ladyboy, Khun Nattawut, who was present at the press conference. The two suspects are alleged to have stolen 2,000 Euro’s from a Hotel Room occupied by Mr. Rajaratnam Velautham aged 53, a Sri Lankan National.

And since when Sri Lankans carry euro's?

Just think what they should carry when coming from Sri Lanka, assuming they have no CC or the llike?

They will carry cash.

Will they carry Sri Lankan Rupee?

Sure not, close to impossible to exchange anywhere.

Dollar or Euro are the remaining options (exchanged in their home country).

USD is the only currency they carry, yet to see someone from that region with anything else but USDbiggrin.png

Obviously it isn't. Maybe they had been to Europe also?

Doubt he was looking for rolling tobacco in the early hours but that's probably what he got.

Again a lot of problems over 100 Baht. Just suck it up and accept tourists get ripped off everywhere.

Better still don't go at night.

I was with you till I got to that last sentence - not an option, I'm afraid. For all the grim news items at PattayaOne, I dont believe Pattaya has reached the point where we cant walk the streets - when that happens, its time to move to Nakhon Nowhere and start subsistence farming. Mmm - brown rice and rainwater ;)
