I always use a visa runner there.
Almost all the hotels have a phone number for one.

Just sign your name, give them your passport and two photos; they bring everything back to your hotel the next day.

Here is the info for the guy I use....
Mr. Yot

<contact member by PM for phone numbers>

He even holds my passport for a week while I go up to Vang Vieng.

Cost me 5,500 Baht for a double entry tourist visa.

Why are people paying 5,500 for a visa worth 2,000 is it because they dont want to spend ages waiting around in the embassy or is there more chance you will get the visa and not get refused?

I was wondering that too when I was there.

One of the "agents" outside the embassy claimed he could get me a double-entry visa easier than I could by doing it myself. Said I'd probably only get a single-entry visa if I didn't use him. This was about 3 years ago when Thailand was giving out free tourist visas.

In hindsight, maybe I should have used him. I forgot to check the box for double-entry on the application form and ended up with only a single-entry visa. At least it was for free, though.

So how does a multiple entry tourist visa work exactly?

I know for a single entry you get 60 days in the Kingdom but what do you get with double entry? 2 times 60 days? Can you just hop a border after the first 60 days? Do I HAVE to use the second entry?

I will be trying to obtain a tourist visa in Vientiane next week, my non-imm visa will expire so I have to change it to Tourist, will they ask for a ticket out of Thailand?

thanx,

Marco

In reality there is no multiple entry tourist visa. They are issued by the number of entries. Multiple implies unlimited entries.

In Vientiane you can get a 2 entry tourist visa that gives you 60 days for each entry that can be extended for 30 days at an immigration office. Then on or before the enter before date on the visa you leave and re-enter the country to use the 2nd entry.

You can also get a single entry visa if that is all you need.

They do not ask for tickets.

which oneof the sponsors would that be? Is this from Bangkok or from Nong Khai? By bus/plane? how many nights?

That would of been from Bangkok. They are no longer an active sponsor. See: http://www.thaivisaservice.com/

thanks a lot for your help ubonjoe, i just have 1 more question:

If I leave Thailand with a cancelled non imm. B visa do I need to also have a letter with me from my company stating my last day of employment was on the same date my visa was cancelled, in order to be able to apply for a tourist visa in Laos?

Much obliged

You will not need it at the embassy.

The problem can occur when leaving the country at at Nong Khai. If you have been on extension of stay for working and it has not been canceled they will not let you leave the country unless you have a letter to from your employer to cancel it.

is extension of stay the same as my non immi visa?

I am on my first 1 year non immi visa which was originally valid until march 2015 but tomorrow will be cancelled as per 31 january 2015 (and i will leave before 31 jan), so I will be fine?

by the way I am planning to fly directly to Vientiane and will prob buy a one way ticket because i might want to spend a couple of days in Laos and then buy a ticket back to bkk, is this ok?

It seems you have an extension of stay you applied for at immigration and will be canceling it there.

I am sure that the visa you used for entry to the country that gave you the permit to stay you extended expired long ago.

you're prob right, so if it is my extension of stay which will be cancelled tomorrow as per 31 jan i will have no problems leaving the country or applying for a tourist visa in Laos and I won't need to bring additional docs like letter from employer and/or return tickets back to thailand and out of thailand right?

You will not have a problem leaving because it will be canceled plus you will be leaving from the airport where they never ask for the cancellation letter.
