Hi

Will be in Thailand soon and this time will be bringing a smartphone rather than trusty Nokia C201.

Could anyone recommend a sim card that provides a good quality data service

preferably a service that doesn't fire through marketing shi$e every 30 seconds

Cheers

I find AIS (12Call) to be user friendly and add free. True, my second sim, were driving me mad with messages all day and night. 12Call also have a good English assistance.

my AIS sim gives me about 6 unwanted messages everyday, but the 1175 call centre is good.I think true have the better calling/data packages, but wait to be corrected

I get no messages from AIS but think way back that I asked them not to send me any. I tried with True but they seem uncontactable. The other advantage I found with 12Call is that I have 12 months until my unused credit runs out. With True it seems to be 30 days.

I tested True, AIS and DTAC

AIS seems to have the best Internet

DTAC the cheaper offers with quality

True: I don't recommend. Bad Internet for me.

You can have unwanted messages from A.I.S. blocked either through the helpline or a visit to an A.I.S. outlet. Actually, I am considering changing from A.I.S. while still keeping my present phone No. I can no longer send photos.by MMM and for whatever reason my sms's to Europe are no longer being delivered? I asked them why this was so and after pushing a few keys on his computer, the A.I.S. guy said......Mi Liu.(don't know). Anyone know anything about this?

009,7 0r 8 are not telephone channels I think, so the sms work only with 001 or + which is the same I think, but terribly expensive .

DTAC trynet monthly payment is dangerous, cannot get out ,cannot transfer the same number to an other company and ...had to pay for recieve shit advert sms @#$%^&*() end up paying 1000 instead of 600 p months

Log into AIS.....https://aiseservice.ais.co.th/eServiceWeb/

My E-Service.

Other Services.

SMS Preference/Cancellations.

Put in a few 'No Thanks'

If you are not registered, you will be having to do that soon anyhow.

I was getting unsolicited messages from AIS ( 12 Call ) and unknown to me after just deleting them thinking they were ads was being charged 4 Baht for each one. A call to help line which I was ever so nice had them stopped and reimbursed 200 Baht for them.

There is a way to opt out of spam messages from True on their phone menu system - can't remember the phone number sorry, but it can be done.

Their prepaid data deals seem ok: 400 baht for 1GB of 3G lasting for 30 days. I never get the 3G icon in Bangkok thought - only H or H+.

All network are offering at least 3GB of (full speed) data for 427 baht.

Thanks, that's great. Their website kills me with all the different deals.

I wonder if its easy to cancel that 30 day auto renewal. Will give it a go once my current 1GB for 399 plan ends.

Call them to cancel. 1GB for for 427 baht....is that an old 'plan'?

If you don't need super speed, you can get unlimited 0.5Mbps for 64 baht per week.

The USSD code for that 1GB plan is *900*3339#

Its an old code I had saved on my phone which I accidentally dialled when looking for a saved code to top up.

I'm not sure what the package is as I can't find a similar one.

Not sure if I'm talking about what is being talked about here (not very Hi-Tek) but as a follow up to my previous post here. I was in with AIS again yesterday buying a new phone and while waiting for her finish serving me I asked her why my sms's were not being delivered to Europe and the MMS function no longer worked.........she gave me the simple answer....those services have been discontinued, you now have to purchase the "Package Internet" to avail of them. Why the man in AIS couldn't tell me that when I went the first time? he obviously didn't know himself or he wouldn't have spent time checking out my phone.

P.S. The package internet is 199 Baht per month.

most reliable way to stop auto renewals is not to keep excess credit in your prepaid phone

Didn't follow you at first "rabid" but I do now (I think). Sound advice and thanks for that, but I don't know how to copy and paste on my mobile (yet).

I got around the problem by using "Line" in Thailand and 'Viber" for Europe.....and they're free.
