Prayut assures justice system will be adhered in treating corruption and political cases

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha reiterated the rule of law that must be upheld and must not mixed up with political case, saying the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is not set up to hunt down its political foes.

The premier’s comment came as now some critics viewed the impeachment of former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was a conspiracy to hunt down its political foes.

He said the impeachment was a justice system which has its procedures, and is the rule of law.

He said he couldn’t exploit the country to revenge any political foes, with affirmation that all NLA members were appointed appropriately to work in place of the Parliament, and use law to hunt anybody.

He said the NLA is not enemy of any side, or favours any particular group.

He said the military junta decided to seize power with strong determination to resolve the political impasse and end conflicts in the country.

He said political cases and corruption cases should be treated separately.

Anybody who did nothing wrong would not be brought to justice system, and they would be granted fairness.

However if reconciliation means wrongdoers in corruption would be free, it can’t be so, he said.

He asked not to bring things in the past to stir up conflicts again and he would not allow political groups to come out again to disturb peace in the country.

Asked whether the former premier has approached the military junta for permission to leave the country, Gen Prayut said everything has its procedure and she has to apply for permission.

He said permission was not rested solely with the military junta.

Why is Prayut doing parading around in an army uniform? I was under the (misguided) impression he had reached the mandatory age and had retired. Is this not imitating an army officer?

As to the justice system being followed, I am sure it will so long as it gives the "right" results.

And I believe him and trust him.

He can deliver and will deliver to the contrast of the previous muppets being in charge of this country.

I think it is just a civil service uniform.

In other news, Greece just had an election. Unfortunately, Costas, the facist Golden Dawn party only garnered 6.3% of the vote. They could have used your help...

Costas does not like elections at all...Dictatorship, like the good old times in Greece..

Costas, doesn't give a damn about elections, Dictatorships, left or right wing governments.

He is only interested that the people that govern Thailand can make this country a better place to live.

For Thais and foreigners, the same.

Enough of the bloodshed and the social unrest of the past.

Enough of the divisions tearing this country apart.

As about all of you quoting Greece on my post, just want to inform you, that you are offtopic2.gif

There is another thread running at the moment about the Greek elections where you can spill all your vitriol there.

Actually, Costas is just trying to get in on every thread early and get the post count up, as his POTY campaign failed miserably this year :)

Vote for Costas....

Did your plane just land? Every Thai and his/her son with aspirations of grandeur wears a bloody uniform. And every ex-whatever keeps his/her rank unless excluded by the courts.

They were elected muppets let's not forget. Your friend the good general has siezed and usurped power and spends most of his time at ceremonies pontificating.

He said the impeachment was a justice system which has its procedures, and is the rule of law.

Does that mean that the General will refrain from part of the judicial process? I doubt it very much as historically that's not how a junta operates.

He said the military junta decided to seize power with strong determination to resolve the political impasse and end conflicts in the country.

Did his actions resolve the political impasse or simply create another fissure?

He said political cases and corruption cases should be treated separately.

So in which category does Yingluck fall under? Corruption or Political ... after all she's being accused of being a corrupt politician and used her political powers for alleged purposes of corruption.

The more you look at this clown show the more you have to put your head in your hands and conclude that their can be no hope for Thailand ... it's not only ruled by the corrupt but also the inept and unqualified.

To answer your Question , in Thailand a 4 star retired General can do (Within Reason) what they like, in fact they hold more power than a active 4 star.

A military junta by its own nature and essence cannot resolve pollitical impasse.

It imposes martial law thus quelling dissenting voices and debate leading to a stagnating political non-entity with no scope for its evolution

Don't you wish that you had such strong and selfless leaders in your home country? The currency of Europe would be Drachma instead of the Euro.

You can always trust a man who delivers amnesty for himself first before he judges everyone else.

Seems that the US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Daniel Russel, doesn't agree with Prayuth, on the contrary, Russel sees it the way any western educated person capable of critical thought would:

"When an elected leader is removed from office, is deposed, and then impeached by authorities, the same authorities that conducted the coup, and then when a political leader is targeted with criminal charges at a time when the basic democratic processes and institutions in the country are interrupted, the international community is going to be left with the impression that these steps could in fact be politically driven," Russel said.

"Prayut assures justice system will be adhered in treating corruption and political cases."

"Thailand's national anti-graft agency says it needs more evidence to determine whether the military government's purchase of microphones that cost 145,000 baht each constitutes as corruption."

Obviously the reason I don't understand the conflict in these two statements is because I am not Thai.

He may be all but useless, but you have to give it up for his ability to keep a straight face while uttering these pearlers.

A typical red lie. Not difficult at all to list many court cases won by reds. Of course, the odds are decreased when you're actually guilty.

Okay name me 5 big political court cases where members of the red party came out on top ? The Reds always gets in court the short end of the stick from the yellow judges.

Red always win the elections by far.

Then either yellow or army brings the reds to court and then of course in court the reds looses.

Then army and or yellow grab power till next election...Its a circle....

Welcome thainess :)

Ok next elections maybe 2017, as there is no political opposition. Many have left town or will be ostracised by the new constitution. The new opposition will have to be retrained and picked from the remaining high ranking officials from the military?

So when do you know that you have landed in the lucky country?

I really am a Junta fanboy.

We had an elected government that adhered to 1/15th of democracy and then we had the 14/15th democracy Prayut that felt he should hold off on 1 principle of democracy so the remainder can be respected.

Is it Prayut's fault that the opposition are criminals and the perceived rhetoric is that he is biased.

Was the Americans biased when they held terrorists in Guantanamo bay? No…The majority in Guantanamo bay were terrorists….They wanted to kill innocent civilians. Of course cancer was the leading form of death in Iraq, but terrorism still had to be snuffed out and cancer simply had to wait...

So when some say the Junta are biased. I say they hold terrorists accountable….

Remember the facts…Pre 22nd of May in Bangkok. Terrorists killed 4 innocent people a month and injured 100 a month. After 22nd of May….0 killed and 0 injured…

Well done to the Junta for restoring peace and holding terrorists accountable because by damn pre 22nd of May none from the Jatuporn side where held accountable. Why? Because that side supported the PTP.

By carrying out a military coup and abolishing the Constitution ,imposing martial law to quell opposition and dissenting voices is an act of terrorism.

Lets not forget that one person may view and act as terrorism while another will not, neither is right or wrong but old different views

The "Truth" is a very fluid concept and especially where politics is concerned

Terrorism is a perjorative word used liberally of late, and some some have a very loose definition of it.

Using it to describe an act which has (almost?) completely reduced the political violence in Thailand, most of which was directed at protesters against a corrupt regime but which managed to kill some very innocent bystanders, is more than perverse. I would call it a wank.

Why the biggest of them all think any body believe him except from some of the no brainers in here

Haw many commities he open in which he placed all his friends

He don't want to listen to the thais that's why they are under martial law

He don't care about the law (it is for the pebble made by the pebble)that's why he makes his own but this is not law and order

He can't control any thing that's why he use guns

Ncpo is the biggest joke did gestapo ever make peace

Non of his commities are self controlled which makes it a path not for the pebble but for him and his closest friends

This is not my country so I just let it be but if it was my country It would be different and the most where I come from thinks same if not all that's why we changed it many years ago and I hope for the thais they change it to

No matter what he and we all thinks thaksin / yingluck is most likely what the Thais want so as it is there country so why can't they have that and that's why he is not changing any thing he just stretching the bow

There is no doubt that it ended the violence , but what it as also done is enforce a political manifesto on the thai nation regardless of their views and with no means of re course to object.

As has been stated before the military junta did very little to support democracy and everything to destroy it

Some will argue that it was the only way, and they are entitled to their views, as should be those who oppose it,

With who was commitment what crimes nobody really Knows, high powered political power games are never in the public consumption. If I was to use an analogy it would be this,

Imagine going to the fun fair where they have those mirrors that make you look comical depending in which mirror you view. The perspective changes depending on the mirror
