Siem Reap

Siem Reap Provincial Court yesterday charged a Korean national with engaging in child prostitution and purchasing pornography of children ranging in age from 10 to 17, police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Chea Heng, deputy chief of Siem Reap’s provincial anti-human trafficking and juvenile protection unit, said that suspect Shin Jang Eun, 43, was arrested on Wednesday in his rental room in Sala Konseng village after the police received complaints from the elder sister and mother of allegedly abused girls.

Kert Vanna Reth, Siem Reap provincial prosecutor, could not be reached for comment.

According to a press release from the child protection NGO APLE, the suspect was arrested after three of the girls testified to police that Shin had sexually abused them. An electronic device in his possession allegedly contained pornographic materials depicting one of the victims.
