thedemon
Someone has just asked me to buy an iphone 6 plus and take it with me on a trip leaving tomorrow so I have to buy it today. Where is the best place to buy it? An Apple store, or just any phone shop in a mall? Does it make any difference to the warranty, since it won't be used in Thailand? Also if anyone knows what I should pay, that would be great info. Thanks for any advice.
yankee99
without posting your location it would be hard for anyone to help you. Btw they're most likely cheaper in the usa if that's where you're going

muratremix
http://aobmobile.net/wc/?cat=13 Go to MBK 4th floor. Buy an HK import for cheaper. Or, buy from iStudio and ask for VAT refund so you can get 5.5 percent of what you paid back in Airport. This way it'll cost same price of HK imports. iStudio shops available at major shopping malls including Central Plaza(s) and Pantip Plaza

There are 2 price lists on that webpage. On the second one (under the heading "Official Unlocked") all models are about THB2000 cheaper. What is the difference? I was under the impression that residents couldn't claim VAT refunds. Is that wrong?
Chicog
Look up and post in the Apple forum, you may get a bigger and more appropriate audience.
Xircal
Go to: http://store.apple.com/th-en/buy-iphone/iphone6 Then click the link top right to: "Find a store". Switch to English and then click "Apple Authorised Resellers" and type: Bangkok. (Sorry, can't link to it directly). If you do decide to chance it with a non-authorised reseller, learn how to spot a fake: http://www.ksrplayer.net/?Product/Wholesale-China-mobile-phone-cell-phone-from-China/Copy-iPhone6-Fake-Clone-Replica-In-China-Qaud-Core.html
thedemon
Thanks for all replies. I had the office messenger go check at MBK and the shop suggested by Muratremix was as cheap or cheaper than any others. THB29,800 for a Gold 64GB. The price is very similar to the unlocked US price. Actually cheaper than Amazon USA. To answer my own question about the different price levels, it seems that the higher price comes with a 1 year warranty valid in Thailand and the lower price, as a gray import, doesn't. I thought all Apple products had a worldwide warranty but I guess there must be more to it than that. Anyway since this particular phone won't live in Thailand it won't make any difference. hhgz
No iPhone has an international warranty. The warranty is only good in which the iPhone was originally purchased. Residents cannot get a VAT refund. All iPhones produced for Thailand are officially unlocked.
