Gas bottle.. what is the small button next to the tap on top

Featured Replies

Gas bottle question

In our kitchen we have one of those big blue gas bottles hooked up to the gas burner.

We turn the tap on and off after use. Yesterday the wife said that I should have been pressing the small button next to the round tap on top. What is this for? Is it necessary?

Also, what is the difference between the blue coloured gas cylinder and the blue one

thanks

Also, what is the difference between the blue colored gas cylinder and the blue one ?

Me thinks not much difference at all.

Just sayin..... Mal.

If you are talking about the small button on the regulator then this is a cut off button.

Everytime that you open the gas from the regulator tap you will have to press the button or the gas will not come through.

If the gas does come through without pressing the button, the valve is faulty and will need changing immediately.

I believe that the bottles are different colours to show which company the gas is from.

Everything Tonytigerbkk said, plus, there is no difference between blue and blue, BUT there is a difference between blue and red, or green, or pink, or yellow, or polka dot.
