Travel to Myanmar

Featured Replies

I am living in far north east Thailand. Nearest large city/ town is Udon Thani. Is it necessary to travel first to Bangkok in order to travel to

Myanmar?

Trains or buses would be OK if they are possibilities.

Myanmar is a fairly big country, so any idea where in Myanmar you want to go? For example, you can get into Myanmar by walking over from Mae Sai here in Chiang Rai province but from there to Yangoon is a long trek. So specifics would help others to help you.

Myanmar has travel restrictions after you cross the border area. Better off to fly into Yangon or Mandalay and travel from there. There are also travel restrictions for foreigners in many areas due to unrest.
