Cruise ship pickup Laemchabang

Featured Replies

I have four friends arriving on a cruise ship at Laemchabang and would like to arrange a car to pick them up at the pier.

Has anyone had experience with this? They are LOS newbies and won't be able to negotiate with Thai taxi drivers. They want to go into Bangkok. The next day they want to transfer back to Pattaya but I will be with them and we would need a larger car. Thanks.

Try:

www.thaihappytaxi.com

Silly name but a very professional company with a wide selection of vehicles and competent drivers. Reasonable prices.

Why not rent, borrow or drive your own car to the port and meet them and be a real friend?

They're not real friends. They're sisters and their husbands. Joking. But yes that's a good option. Thanks.

3 possible solutions :

1. The cruise ships always have fleets of Swe-Trans buses ferrying people to Pattaya or sometimes Bangkok. Pick them up there.

2. You yourself can drive up to the barrier which is only 50 metres from the ship.

3. These taxi guys are good from Pattaya. Tel : 0863935311

A bit off topic but as a day trip for us land dwellers, would it be possible to check out and go on to a cruise ship while it is in/on port there?

Sounds like a fun day trip or is it completely out of the question?

Just tell your friends to ask the cruise company to arrange a van to take them where ever you/they want to go. Lots of transport when these ships come to port.

You can certainly get to the ship. Anyone can drive aimlessly around Laem Chabang Port. Thais are relaxed about port security.

Whether you would be able to get on the ship is a different matter. I think it could be problematic.

You would have to contact Royal Caribbean International

Thanks for all the replies. I have organised for them to be picked up by Thai happy taxi. 1600 baht into Bangkok. The problem with booking through the cruise line is cost. They Want around $50 US per head for a transfer. That's about 6500 baht. And probably not door to door. Just dump the them off the bus somewhere.
