How about one (or more) of those canvas awnings that the guys sell from the back of a pick-up? There's one or two that drive round our village every so often looking for business.

Failing that you can buy 3m x 3m open-sided tents from a shop on Sukhumvit: Heading North from Pattaya Klang go past the new Index and on your left (West) somewhere close to the exit ramp for the No.7 is a big second hand shop, and next to that is the shop that sells the tents.

Failing that, if you're the creative type, try making something yourself using the blue plumbing pipes you see everywhere. Fill them with sand if you need them more rigid. If you're design works well with the plumbing pipes, go get it made in steel.

Thaiwatsadu sell a really good fancy one for 4000 baht or you can get a cheap one in the warehouse shops behind Big C North Pattaya for about 1200 baht, but they rot very quickly.
