Woody1
Maybe one day they'll realise just how stupid these ridiculous photo-shoots make them look, how many officers to they need to cram into these photographs? Absolute classic!!! One is playing with his phone, another is giving the accused a brotherly hug, and they chose Pattaya to present this, along with a sign reading Sattahip Police Station! Do the reporters or the BiB have a clue what they're doing??
Godders
What's the Thai equivalent of the term "good public relations", I wonder? The nearest I can get, with the missus' help, is nah mai muan kai. Certainly doesn't apply to this lot.
iReason
"The Provincial Police Commander ... chose Pattaya to present a selection of the higher-profile cases to the media." "Khun Dilaerk who is believed to be a serial motorbike thief" "Khun Prasit aged 50,... is accused of motorbike theft and possession of unlicensed firearms." That's all we have for you today folks. These two guys. Two "Higher Profile" street urchins. Absolutely pathetic. Probably cost the cops more for the "media event" I can only hope, some Thai reporters were scratching their heads and saying, Huh???
penwithcris
It would never happen in Thailand but Hong Kong replaced their own failing police force with British police. Despite their occasional failings I don't believe British generally policeman succumb to bribery, and the result was a huge drop in all areas of crime on the islands I've worked in the British Civil Service as a Diplomatic Inspector and could have retired early as a millionaire if I'd accepted all the financial incentives I'd been offered But there is clearly something in the Thai psyche that assures them that illegally accepting bribes is quite acceptable Graft and corruption is endemic in Thai society. Unless there is an enormous sea change then a concerted 'clean up' of Pattaya, and other crime ridden cities, is always bound to fail

Basil B
I recall not that so long ago some UK police officers used to do some arm twisting, getting petty criminals to cough for crimes they did not do just to get the unsolved crime figures down.
