PATTAYA: -- A 21 year old Go-Go Bar worker complained to officers at Pattaya Police Station on Thursday Night after he was detained and accused of possessing drugs by 6 men who claimed to be Police Officers and who later stole 40,000 Baht’s worth of cash and valuables from his apartment.

Khun Wirapon told Police Investigators that he works for a Bar in Soi Sunee Plaza in South Pattaya and as he waited for his sister in the street, he claimed to have been approached by three men who claimed to be Police and stated they were told by an informant that he was in possession of illegal drugs, a claim that Khun Wirapon denied.

The three men, thought to be aged in their thirties, were soon joined by three more men, who escorted Khun Wirapon to his room where they insisted on conducting a search. They forced the bar worker to open a room safe where they claimed to have found drugs, which the victim believes were planted there by the men.

For me it is really sad to see this happening even to a low paid bar worker. Not so much the crime, as despicable as it is, but the lack of common knowledge by the victim(s) to prevent it progressing to the stage where theft from an apartment could occur.

This is of course said assuming the victim is innocent of the accusations and that they were really false police.

It is also a reminder to all of us of what should be done if this were to happen to you.

1. Insist on seeing identification before allowing any search to take place and if possible photograph the identification. No identification shown, no search.

2. If further accusations are made, insist on them being conducted at the police station. Seek proper legal advice.

3. Do not allow them to enter your place of residence without first being at the police station. Insist on seeing the search warrant.

4. If they ever do get to your place of residence, make sure there is a ranking officer present before any search is conducted.

I know there will be people who will tell you that you have no rights in this country. Please ignore this B S, you do have rights and the police are bound to follow correct procedure.

Stick by your guns, and don't bottle it...........................wink.png

'It Not Unusual'

Nice to see the cops in Pattaya keep on keeping on, even when they are no longer cops.

Unusual for a bar worker to have 40,000 baht lying around.

Sounds like maybe was into drugs.

is your assumption based on the fact that you were a bar worker once?

Some bar workers are surprisingly well off, especially the ones with multiple sponsors.

See that you are a true TVF detective, case solved? Next

At this point the men demanded 5,000 Baht to clear the case and at the same time they stole mobile phones and other items worth an estimated 40,000 Baht from the apartment.

Eventually the victim’s sister arrived with the money and the so-called Police Officers disappeared.

The real Police are now investigating and hope to catch the 6 men soon before they strike again.

The hunt is on. Can't have fake cops take our tea-money now, can we.

Presuming that is his sister in the background, she indeed does not look happy.

My guess is that the brother earns more in the gay GoGoBar in Sunee Plaza than his sister would anywhere else. He surely looks cute enough.

Sounds likely , if he was a known dealer he'd be lined up for ripping off. On the other hand would he have gone to the Old Bill if he was ?

Anything can happen when police abuse their power.

2 years ago, a guy was rounded up by fake police, taken to the police station and piss tested. The guy was clean but the thugs and police still got 10,000bt out of the guy.

The guy got the story publicised, the police acted stupid and the local paper let the story die like all the other stories they should be following....

Yep. Fake cops can order a piss test in Pattaya at the police station!

Even as you were writing that, did it not seem strange to you?

Corrupt police, maybe, fake police using the police station for drug testing and process?

OK...........................rolleyes.gif
