Popular Post Costas2008
One by one the police corrupt big shots are getting uncovered. This is why they supported Thaksin, Yingluck and the rest as they never bothered them in their mafia dealings. About time this police force has been investigated and dealt with. My worries is why don't they fire them but put them in inactive posts while they still draw their salaries. Hope this will change soon.

This should have earned them at least 2 slot demotions.

Popular Post rametindallas
If soldiers can find the casinos, then surely the police knew of their existence. The police should be embarrassed but, I'm afraid they're not. Inactive posts gets their snouts out of the trough and in a holding pattern until they can be reinstated or prosecuted and fired. If the General keeps this up, they just might get the message that their corruption is no longer tolerated.

Popular Post h90
Lets keep it clear. Adult people meet together in a private house and play games with their own money. None of them was forced to play. It is not harmful for the body (like narcotics). This is criminal because a guy 2500 years ago MAYBE didn't like gambling, but never told something about punishment. I fail to see where the problem is.

Those in 'inactive posts' will be just marking time until after the election of a NORMAL civilian government. And the Military has it's own areas of protection too, not just the Police.

Not that I'm against gambling. Better to legalize, control and tax it. The only reason that gambling is not and will not be legalized in Thailand, unlike nearly(?) every surrounding country, is that the influencial figures that run the illegal operations would lose millions in profits.
cup-O-coffee
Is this like a doctor?... treat the symptom but do not provide the cure, thus ensuring one's position and existence? Or is it like a veterinarian?... give the cure, step aside, and open the way for an improved lifestyle and well-being? It seems like any good here is never really good enough, and any good done seems to get overshadowed later by elements that rear their ugly head, and in turn get their symptoms treated... to reduce the fever and swelling... but never completely. Corruption survives ONLY to perpetuate itself.

From the op - "Of the 24 gamblers detained, 16 are women."....................Yes, Thai ladies do like to gamble. Problems arise though when gambling results in the loss of money which is supposed to go to feeding and educating the family. Too many sad stories about that. Gambling is a drug, and needless to say is against Thai law.

Is it a witch hunt? Or is there an across the board attempt at cleaning up the RTP? As of yet I am unsure.

RTP cops have a gen called CORRU.., and if any one knows , FDA not yet allowed gen manipulation on embrios; Lets hope that Thai will allow, so that in future we will have thai citicens be born without that gen ! hopefully this will go over RTP up politicans and senators;

Not different than buying the Mercedes you can't finance, till at the end they take the car and the money is gone as well. You can't have a nanny for every citizen to check if he/she uses the money reasonable or waste it.

Those in 'inactive posts' will be just marking time until after the election of a NORMAL civilian government. 'Cos then everything reverts to NORMAL. Yes, possibly but lets hope NOT, for the good of Thailand.. But some idiots will still actually believe that this would actually be good for Thailand. Business as usual for the northern Amart and their stooges (see above) to resume raping the country again? Where are their brains. Look, Thaksin had his chance to be the greatest PM of Thailand in living history but greed, power and unbridled megalomania got the better of him & he blew it. It is quite sad for Thailand because he was in a position dispose of the greedy Amart who were running the place for their own good to be feted & fondly remembered by all, forever, as the man who made Thailand a fair & decent place for all Thais. Not just the above by a deluded &/or bribed minority for a decade or so as it turns out. The position, and job description for a man to do this for Thialand is still open. When and where will Thailand find the real thing? Look two countries south for a role model. (Hint his name is Lee Kuan Yew.) Popular Post Emster23
Police are at something of a disadvantage in this corruption clean up. Difficult to raid army bases, investigate the payoffs to the top heavy brass whose numbers are legion and wealth vast, all on army pay. Do not be fooled into buying the line that this has to do with cleaning up corruption. It is about getting rid of army competition for fleecing rights.
