PM approves 'gurudhayadha' teacher training project

BANGKOK: -- Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday approved the Education Ministry's proposal to revive the "gurudhayadha" teacher preparation project, which would offer full scholarships and guarantee students teaching jobs at their home provinces after graduation.

Prayut told reporters after a Cabinet meeting yesterday that he totally backed the project, as it would produce a new generation of teachers. He said he has also instructed the ministry to consider other measures, such as reviewing the teacher education curriculum and using up-to-date teaching materials in rural schools.

The premier also urged the Education Ministry to ease the shortage of teachers by producing better teaching staff by allowing those who have graduated in other fields to undergo teacher training. He also suggested that high-school students be exposed to career choices and vocational skills, such as joining an English-language tour guide programme, so they can decide on their career path and pursue education accordingly.

What would really be good...is to teach school administrators and teachers how to discipline students without being cruel about it...

What would we do without our beloved general?

Thailand would be a lot worse off. If you were referring to farangs as "we" it makes very little difference who is in charge.

If it comes off then there will be a new young generation of teachers who actually know the schools and the area and hopefully the older generation of dinosaurs will finally be pensioned off.

Produce a "new generation of teachers." Harr Harr. "He also instructed" the Ministry to consider other measures".......bla, bla,bla....

"Using "Up to date" teaching materials in rural schools, bla, bla, bla.

I thought Army Generals know how to "protect a country and how to use guns. Let's hope his plans don't backfire.

And foreigners who got caught wearing tiny bikinis will be encouraged to produce electricity on spinning wheels for "still without electricity" rural schools, he added.

Female soldiers with a completely new outfit will have to" fake that they fell in love with foreigners, to keep the wheels spinning." facepalm.gif

Isn't this what parents are supposed to do?... to grow up from childhood and learn from their parents, and then go on to become parents and teach their children what they learned?

This "model", I suspect is going to have the same negative impact of what I just pointed out, simply because the model itself is not based on any foundational belief system here, yet moreover impersonates an ideal that does not exist in the Thai consciousness; EVERYTHING BEGINS AND ENDS WITH FAMILY.

Name one thing here that is not, or does not eventually become founded in the beliefs of corruption, greed, laziness, apathy, avoidance, skimming, cutting corners, cheating, lying, pretending, etc. etc. ad nausea.

The thinking that goes on in these minds staggers the imagination and beggars it to a grinding halt. The tools (FAMILY) are already in place in this society, yet they ignore them and keep on inventing cheap copies that never get used, or drawing up plans for fantastic solutions that never get off the drawing board, because that someone gets transferred after spending and pocketing all the funding, and someone else moves in to replace them and scraps all the old plans, and begins with their own webs of corruption and grand schemes.

The family unit in this country is taken for granted and always overlooked and never addressed. That is one of the biggest impediments to any problem solving in this country. Their ideal of a family is what is killing them, and that is my opinion.

Apologies if I offended anyone.

I don't understand something. Prayuth personal allows and disallows everything? Never mind the supposed "government" etc, it's all down to him. He's the one who personally says toilets need to be built faster, where markets will or will not be, what colour vests motorcycle taxi pilots have to wear, what should be the story line of soaps - it does make me wonder how he has the time to run the country - he personally does all of this and we're not allowed the use of the 'D' word...

English language tour guide - must be a shortage.

Can the "teacher" take the grant, then not teach or teach a year and leave? Thought so.

Yes, so busy with things that are not even mayoral level issues. Time is a very zero sum game, more so for big pols that have entourage and security as everything needs to be planned.
