Consumer rights group calls for abolition of all 'unjustifiable' funds related to energy

BANGKOK, 4 March 2015 (NNT) - The Thai Consumers Development Association has urged the National Reform Council to put to an end all energy-related funds that are said to be causing consumers unfairness.

Deputy chairman of the NRC’s committee on anti-corruption Admiral Pajun Tamprateeb on Tuesday accepted a letter from TCDA Chairwoman Boonyuen Siritham, which asked the reform council to do away with all energy-related funds that have been active in the energy industry.

Ms. Boonyuen said that all the funds have caused troubles to consumers as they contributed to an unfair energy price structure.

She added that one major reason of such a problem is the management of all funds that lacks transparency.

She went on to say that some funds have also lacked a clear-cut inspection process while some are operating without any endorsing law.

The TCDA Chairwoman stressed that the NRC should launch an investigation into the disbursement of each fund before moving on with the reform process or even the abolition of those funds.

She is asking for transparency and a clear-cut inspection process?

Time to invite her for attitude adjustment as she is not Thai enough!

Sounds like we could loose our 300 baht a month electricity bill discount?
