Gov't to hold 'Thai rice: Thainess' fair tomorrow

BANGKOK, 4 March 2015 (NNT) – Thai government will begin the ‘Thai rice: Thainess’ rice fair tomorrow in accordance with the Prime Minister’s policy to promote good quality rice from Thai farmers, to increase product value and to support the farmers.

Officials are now working to prepare the area along the Phadung Krung Kasem canal in Bangkok, which is the designated location that will host the ‘Thai rice: Thainess’ fair, starting tomorrow onwards.

Food vendor booths, central stage, rice sprouts display, the exhibition on the Royal Family’s contribution on rice development in Thailand, and the exhibition on rice technology are the highlights at the event.

Activities in this event will include cultural performances, demonstrations of rice-related traditions and farmers’ livelihood from the four regions of Thailand, as well as a workshop on cooking rice. Cheap rice retailing will also be available at the fair.

The event was initiated by the Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to serve as a platform for good quality rice farmers from communities to be able to promote their products in Bangkok. This fair will be a good opportunity to create a direct connection between farmers and consumers, as well as increasing the rice value which will help encourage farmers income and livelihood.

What has Thainess to do with rice planting?

Oh dear.

"Thai Rice Scam: Thainess" says it all.coffee1.gif

I thought they were trying to promote sales of thaksin rice, how much of that stuff do they still have?

I thought they were trying to promote sales of thaksin rice, how much of that stuff do they still have?

They just announced they sold 200K tons to the Philipines......so that leaves ~ 12+ million tons.......not much!

can someone please give me a ride to the fair tomorrow

this sure sounds like a "do not miss" event

What a really really good idea to directly connect Thai farmers to Thai consumers in Bangkok by promoting...... rice. The product value will surely rise and the Thai rice farmer will surely be encouraged to grow more rice. Another gem from the General.

Three ring dog and pony show

Smoke and mirrors

"Let them eat cake"

Take you pick as to what this really is.

What has Thainess to do with rice planting?

I guess that farang pay a tenfold price....

I'm sure Thaimess taxi service will give you ride, Ride of your life that is be sure to hold on to wallet.

How about using some of the unsold rice in the Thai market with a decent reduction in price. This will have a direct benefit for the whole population & will surely go a long way to "happiness". The country is already losing untold billions on the stored rice so time to cut the losses.

Hmm. Go there, have a plate of plain rice, then lie down and go to sleep. That's a good concept to promote Thainess.

That's not all there is to do there. You can watch it grow as well.

"put the Thainess in the rice"

how do you do that? Monks chanting at the rice? Prayuth ordering the rice to adjust its attitude? Putting TV screens with 24/7 soap dramas into the warehouses?

An election might be happening after all.

What they need to do is to help Thais to create alternative crops to decrease rice supply & to increase rice prices..or at least make the nation less reliant on a decreasing priced crop.

And so the circus continues suck it up you got to laugh or you will cry ,

weren't we all to be sold a bag of Thai rice on leaving the Kingdom not so long ago, more pie in the sky, it's never ending, amazing Thailand.

and there will be a "workshop on cooking rice" that should draw in the Thais by the thousands

"as well as increasing the rice value which will help encourage farmers income and livelihood."

How will this fair increase rice value?

Will it be put on you tube and be such a stunning event that people around the world will stop and think:

"you know what, I want to pay more for rice. Hell double the price, triple my order and put that <deleted> awesome clip on again."

Good plan.

A sack full of "Thainess" tzzz who can actually live without what the rest of the world is desperatly longing for?

They actually developed a rice strain that contained true 'Thainess'.

Each grain gets done cooking at a slightly different time, while some never show up on the plate at all. Each grain tastes different, but they all taste the same simultaneously. When one grain is under-cooked and served, it plants a post-hypnotic suggestion in the eater's mind that foreigners somehow made it be under-cooked. Every grain contains a bastardized copy of Auld Lang Syne, which the eater farts out three times a day for a week afterwards. The rice is prepared in sets of twelve grains (with many sets per serving), and each grain endows the eater with one of the PM's 12 moral principles.

They also announced that anyone who gets food poisoning at the Fair will be charged with lese majesty, since they would have obviously been a violent radical planted among the good people attending.

rotten to the core

they want to export that trade ? TM

I could care less, if a sack rice would fall over in China...
