March 15, 201511 yr My gov is requesting a legalised copy of my passport for some marriage documents. Where can I get a legalised (certified) copy of my passport? Is any law firm able to do that?
March 15, 201511 yr Popular Post Since it is for your government the only place acceptable to them will be your embassy to do the certified copy.
March 16, 201511 yr Probably cheaper if you find a notary public. I don't believe there are such officials under Thai law. Remember that the current Thai legal system is a melding of traditional Thai practices and the Code Napoleon. That's why when you submit copies of documents to a government official you have to sign them yourself, attesting to their accuracy. Of course you can probably find a Thai lawyer who will happily put a stamp on your copy and write a signature, but it does not have legal significance. Of course I am not a Thai lawyer, so I would be happy to be corrected. Getting a document certified at the American Embassy costs about ฿1,800.
March 16, 201511 yr Thailand has never signed the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostille_Convention therefor NO so called notary inside Thailand is recognized as legal through out the world. Only your embassy can do this for you.
