webfact
Relatives want autopsy of slain big biker from Khunying PorntipBANGKOK: -- Relatives of a slain 40-year-old big biker have asked the Justice Ministry’s Central Institute of Forensic Science to re-conduct autopsy of the victim to find the exact cause of his death after the Sriracha police said he died from wound of the head after falling off his motorcycle. The request by the relatives of Mr Nares Rojboonsongsri came after doctor at a private hospital in Sriracha, Phyathai Sriracha, issued death certificate for Nares saying he died of gunshot wound to his head.Nares was earlier reported by Sriracha police manning a road checkpoint at Huey Lek bridge in Chonburi to have fallen from his big bike while trying to avoid search by police at the checkpoint last Saturday night. He was sent to hospital with serous wound on the head and died later at Phyathai Sriracha hospital.A death certificate was issued to Nares’ relative saying he died of swelling brain caused by gunshot wound to head.Sriracha police earlier denied having shot at Nares when he avoided the checkpoint and said he suffered serious shot wound after falling off his big bike. But witnesses at the scene said there was a gunshot firing and Nares fell from his motorcycle.Death certificate issued by Phyathai Sriracha hospital prompted the police to admit having fired a shot but not aiming at the victim. The police chief of Chonburi Pol Maj-Gen Nitipong Niemnoi said a police officer fired a warning shot into the air.He said he did not see the death certificate yet if the bullet buried in his head or pierce through it.But he admitted that if the death certificate did state he died from shot wound, then he would accept it.The officer accused of firing the shot, Pol Sgt Suphan Chamnit was transferred to Chonburi police command pending investigation.Meanwhile big bikers in Chonburi planned a rally to demand justice from the police at Chonburi police command Wednesday. At the same time, director-general of the Central Institute of Forensic Science Dr Porntip Rojanasunan said she was ready to conduct autopsy of the victim with result would be known in one day.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/relatives-want-autopsy-of-slain-big-biker-from-khunying-porntip -- Thai PBS 2015-03-

Popular Post Just1Voice
My question is why the guy tried to run the checkpoint in the first place? That in no ways condones the cops shooting him, but if he was legal, and there's no mention of drugs or guns on him, why try to run through the checkpoint? That part doesn't make sense to me.

WonnabeBiker
Lying Policemen harm the RTP and should be punished severely. How absurd is this official version? Biker falls off and then - somehow - gets shot in the head?!? This kind of behavior is unacceptable in a modern society. Offenders need to lose their jobs and pension entitlement and do time. Such lying is harmful to society.
Popular Post klauskunkel
synopsis of events: 1. police say biker fell off the bike and wounded his head 2. hospital say he died of gunshot to the head 3. police deny having fired a shot 4. witnesses say there was a gun shot 5. police change story and admit there was a warning shot into the air conclusion: the biker's head was in the air at the same time the warning shot was fired, if he had stuck his head in the sand as per Thainess, he would still be alive. there is a moral lesson here...

Popular Post veyron18
I am following this story on Pantip since it just occurred. Apparently the guy tried to run the checkpoint because he took the bridge over the intersection (which is stupidly (sorry for that) forbidden by Thai Law). So instead of letting himself be fined for such an unadapted rules he tried to force the checkpoint. I ride big bike myself and the way we are getting arrested constantly for no valuable reason is extremely irritating. That's why lot of us just try not to stop anymore. By the "no valuable reason" I am talking about - riding on the left lane -Taking the bridges over the intersection -Being a farang and riding a big bike. I am not talking about - speeding -DUI -riding on walkway -running through red light and so on.

NCC1701A
great now i have to wear a bullet proof vest and bullet proof helmet when i ride my big bike. i did not see that stuff at my local big bike store, i guess i will have to order it from the states. for those of you who have never fired a gun, the odds of hitting someone in the head while moving at any speed are very slim. it is not like the movies. the odds are you will miss your moving target. any idea which direction the bullet entered his head? anyone here ride a big bike in thailand? then you know all of this is pointless because he was about to be hit by a truck anyway. Godders
Why can't Thai's (no apostrophe required) write a story that don't (doesn't) sound like (as if) some retard wrote it.? (Missing subject)) have to read (it) twice to figure out what the hell there (they're) trying to tell you. Takes one to recognise one, it seems. They can, the reports are initially written in perfect Thai but then some dreadful translators are given free rein on the reports. Don't blame the Thai journalist.

No, you're talking about breaking a different law. What is the relevance of this daft reference to a "big bike" ("I ride big bike myself..." So what? Does that make you special in some way?)? Do some motorcyclists seriously think that the size of an engine determines which laws they have to obey? For the purposes of these reports there is no difference between a "big bike" and any other. jimmybkk
Did this story change somewhere along the line? I skimmed over it earlier and I thought I read that the Thai Police Forensics Department had conducted the first autopsy stating the cause of death as head injury caused by bike crash which confirmed police reports of the incident but which was then contradicted by a doctor at the Sriracha hospital stating that the cause of death was a bullet wound to the head. If that is what happened then I could understand the family asking for Khunying Porntip to conduct a second autopsy. As I read it now, the traffic police started out by saying cause of death was a road accident, then the doctor at the hospital stated that cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head (did he do the official autopsy?), then the police started admitting that a gunshot was fired and ended up saying that if the official cause of death was a gunshot wound they would accept it. Doesn't this mean that everyone is now on the same page regarding cause of death? So why is a second autopsy by Khunying Porntip required? The autopsy will not prove whether the officer who fired the shot was aiming at the deceased or not. Or am I missing something...?
