PATTAYA: -- A senior non-commissioned officer, working at Chonburi Police Headquarters, was arrested by Pattaya Police in the early hours of Sunday after he was involved in a fatal road crash where he is suspected of driving through a red traffic light at a high rate of speed.

Police and medics were called to the scene of the crash just before 3am on Sunday and encountered the dead body of Khun Tira aged 45, lying at the side of the Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok-bound carriageway.

Nearby was a White Toyota Camry driven by Police Senior Sergeant Major Somyot, who is stationed at Chonburi Police Headquarters.

This story will take about one day to do the classic Thai fade away.........

That is assuming the guy he killed was a member of the peasant class.

Wonder why the policeman did not do the standard hit and run ? Was

his vehicle disabled ? That is about the only thing that stops runners.

The motor-bike rider was "imitating" a U-turn ?? Interesting.

Clearly it was supposed to read 'initiating' - PattayaOne's crack proofreading team in action once again. Whatever he was doing, the poor bugger was in the wrong place at the wrong time - RIP. The general attitude to red lights here is pathetic and accidents like this are the logical outcome.
