Hi all,

this got buried yesterday I think, we'll be going to Surin from Huay Rat by train and have to go to Kap Cheung for my daughter's 1 year visa.

What is the easiest way to get to Kap Cheung from Surin, and, how long will it take, and how much can I expect it to be (for the 3 of us)?

Thanks in advance

Hi CNXPAT

Kap Cheung is about 65k from Surin and takes about 1 1/2 hours by road. The easiest way would be to see Martyn at The Farang Connection ( by Surin bus station) and he may be able to arrange journey or know a man that can. Check out the FC website at the top of Issan forum page. Hope you enjoy my new hometown. :o

I didn't post on this because 'I just don't know'

But, I do know that there are buses that go from my location to Kap Choeng..... so it stands to reason that there must be some from Surin, I can tell you where you would get on (just outside the FC) .... timings, no idea.

Thanks,

Guess all roads lead to FC :-) If we have time, we will definitely pop in, first need to get the visa sorted.

The train seems to leave around 12:00 here, which is a bit late, so either wait a bit, on the motorbike (but it's been so bleeding hot and sunny these 2 days!) or trying to arrange my wife's uncle's car here.

Exciting!! to the big city :-)

The other thing if you are lucky to get a ride in a private car, its about 60 - 65 km south on HWY 214. Immigration is almost the first building on the north side of Kab Choeng. Its probably 1 km north of the *Unused* bus station.

Welcome to my part of the world.

Buses leave the Central Bus Station every 40 mins. If you want to go by private car, you may have heard that the Farang Connection is actually in the bus station, and we can provide that service :D

That is of course if you are prepared to part with arms and legs. No, joking aside the bus is far,far cheaper, but does take an age, and we are quite reasonable anyway. Plus of course the advantage that we know the staff there. Anyway pop in, on your way down and we'll work out which is best suited to you. :o

BTW....the visa will cost 1,900. Bus 60-70 baht(420 max)Taxi 1,000.
