Busiest Songkran travel day?

Featured Replies

Friday, Saturday or Sunday?

I think it will be Friday afternoon through Sat afternoon. A lot of people will be leaving work around lunch on Friday to get a head start. Unfortunately, if everybody does it, nobody gets a head start. 5555

That makes sense. Travelling from Pattaya into Bangkok on Sunday? Utter carnage or Sunday drivers?

Traveling into Bangkok will be heaven. Going out is the problem.

I will say 10th thru the 19th . Have fun.

Looking on Thai TV just now (Friday morning), the roads are jammed already.

Doing the U turn to get to my pub off the AH2 last night at 6.30 was the busiest traffic I have seen this year. All heading north to Myanmar.

I guess there will be traffic until Sunday night.... We're driving on Saturday morning 4.00am from Bkk to spend Songkran with the Misses family in Prauchap Kari Khan one hour south of Hua Hin and hope to get a head start by leaving so early. Usually takes us about 3 hours to drive there if the Missus does not want to stop every 20 minutes...??

You might want to put your foot down or you'll be there all day.

10-19? 13,14 and 15 are usually relatively quiet as ling as you're nit in the inner moat in Chiang Mai for example.
