Pol Lt Pongsaran Wangplub, a highway police in Sri Racha district, said the accident happened at 2 am on the inbound Bangkok-Chon Buri Motorway’s Section 2 at the 107 kilometer marker.

The accident happened near the Torphayom Bridge in Tambon Bueng.

The van belongs to the Futong Group Communication Technology (Thailand) Co, Ltd and it was driven by Yuhua Liang.

Pongsaran coordinated with the Chao Phraya Surasak Municipality to send a fire engine to the scene but the blaze had already consumed the entire vehicle. The fire engine took about 30 minutes to put out the fire.

The van driver and nine passengers could exit the van in time. Some of them suffered minor injuries while fleeing the van. They received first-aid treatment from rescuers of the Sawang Prateep Sri Racha Foundation.

Yuhua told police that she drove the nine executives of Futong Group to a dinner in Pattaya after which she drove them back to their residences in Amata City.

When she arrived at the scene, she smelled something burning at the front of the van. So, she parked on the roadside and shouted to tell the executives to exit the van urgently.

Shortly afterward, the van caught fire and the blaze spread throughout the car quickly before she called the highway police for help.

Pongsaran said the van’s electric system might malfunction, causing a short circuit and fire. Yuhua will be later interrogated further, he added.

OMG, I thought they only used the electrodes on terrorists... w00t.gif

Surely, "she may be asked more questions at a later date" would suffice...
