Tourist Visa with Germany Passport at Chinese embassy in Bangkok

Recommended Posts

Here in Thailand on a tourist visa with a German passport. I would like to go to Shanghai for a week and therefor need a tourist visa. I've read that it's theoretically possible to get one, but also read lots of reports about how it got harder in the past few years, people being asked to show letters from their employers or bank print outs and all kinds of other things that they weren't told about before. It seems like the requirements are not clearly defined.

Anybody knows more more?

- first of all you need to apply in person

- you need confirmed airplane tickets as well as hotel reservation

- you also will need to show your return ticket to Germany

- if you go as a tourist you may need invitation letter from a tourist agency in Shanghai

- if you want to visit people you will need an invitation letter from them

In the end you can only find out the actual rules by going to the Chinese Consulate (in front of the Chinese Embassy)
