Renting a One Way Car in Thailand

Featured Replies

Hello,

Has anyone rented a car or truck for a one way trip. I want to rent a four door truck from the airport to Khon Kaen with a drop off in Khon Kaen.

Anyone with experience with this? Thanks!

I'd check with the major rental agencies. Hertz, Avis, etc. If anybody could do this, they would. It won't be cheap, but I'm sure it's possible.

Try a search engine like this. Just an example:

Many years ago I rented a pickup from Budget at Don Muang, went to Isaan for a week, then dropped it in Pattaya. No problem at all, but there is a fee for this service.

The big rental car companies do it (I did it with budget...) but you will have to tell them the return place and pay an extra fee for returning the car to its original pick up point. For me it was worth it

No problem to do a rental between BKK and KK - whether there will be an extra charge for one-way drop off will depend on how long the rental is for. Usually if its more than 3-4 days there will be no extra charge.

I've done it a few times - if you are travelling between decent sized places and use one of the bigger franchises then it won't be a problem.

(I use a consolidator and choose from Budget, Thai Rent-a-car, SixT etc)

I have seen Thairentacar doing one-way specials before. Possibly helps with their fleet reallocation after major holidays... like Songkran? Maybe others do the same.
