ICT Ministry launches Facebook network to promote constructive social media

BANGKOK, 15 April 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (ICT) has launched a Facebook page to educate internet users on how to use social media in a constructive manner.

The move came in light of the growing number of internet users, especially those browsing social media. Recent findings indicated that Thai people spent as much as 50 hours per week or seven hours per day surfing the internet. Hand phones and computer tablets are the most popular gadgets for internet surfers

Owing to the rapid expansion of social media, the Ministry of Communication and Information has decided to launch a Facebook page entitled ‘Thailand Creative Society’ to serve as a network for people to share their knowledge in various areas, including information technology, constructive use of social media, concrete disposal of electronic waste and digital economy.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology expects that the launch of 'Thailand Creative Society' would enhance awareness of cyber risks and attacks among the public and the business sector as well as encourage them to be prepared for those threats.

Another nail in FB's coffin, it's popularity amongst teens is already declining.

This is not going to help bring them back.

Excellent.

Bring it on.

Given the attitude of the junta it suggests ' constructive use of social media ' means don't say anything we don't approve of.
