paz
For 30 day you don't need a visa, for 45 the easier/cheapest would be a tourist visa 60 days, because it cost less, save time at immigration, and prevent problems boarding. If your son is born in the UK you need a Thai birth certificate from the Thai embassy, otherwise he should have it already. from there you proceed with house registration, Thai ID card, and then finally passport. The first two steps have to be done in Thailand. Make sure that when your wife enters Thailand she uses her Thai passport and won't budge to using the UK one.
ubonjoe
Do you have a Thai birth certificate for your son from the embassy in London? If not that will be the first step needed to get him a Thai passport. See: http://www.thaiembassyuk.org.uk/?q=node/191 If he has a Thai birth certificate you should register him in a house book in order for him to get a Thai ID number at an Amphoe. He could then get a Thai ID and passport here. It would be best for you and your son to get single entry tourist visas That would give you a 60 day entry. If not you both will get a 30 day visa exempt entries that can be extended at an immigration office for 30 days. If you enter without a visa you may be asked for a flight out within 30 days to board your flight.
