April 23, 201511 yr Now as all the screws and washer on the Bontrager components get rust (bike has 400 km and never seen any water) I want to replacements made in Titanium (not expensive on Ebay) Anything I have to look at? They all tell Titanium Type 5. Can't be wrong, or?
April 23, 201511 yr Wouldn't it be much simpler to just replace them with stainless steel screws and washers? SS screws, nuts, bolts and washers are available in just about any city/large town here in LOS.

Than it doesn't make a difference if it is Stainless or Titanium.
April 24, 201511 yr Have to be careful with titanium screws, especially when used in areas that require a decent clamping force, for example the faceplate of a stem. They have a habit of the head shearing off before you've reached the correct clamping force, especially the cheap ones off eBay from China......

So much thank you from preventing me to bite into the stem!!! I don't worry about shearing off when screwing them in, I worry that they only start to shear and with the vibration and force the "crack" gets deeper and in the moment you go down a hill with 70 and into a small hole on the street which would be just unpleasant the screw brakes. I'll look out for quality....
April 24, 201511 yr I'm with Moonoi, I don't use them on a stem faceplate nor on [disc] brake calipers!

So, pimp your bike with a reasonable (common sense: "What could happen if it breaks"?) mix of stainless and titanium screws/bolts. I got all needed ss screws in CNX at Patthakan Fastener Ltd., Part. (written in Thai only, blue sign), N18 47 13.7 E99 00 29.6.
