thrilled
If you go to the car ferry at Donsak pier it's around 60-90 minutes.
Basil B
It is about 1.5 hours buy bus. You can buy a combo ticket when you purchase your train ticket that includes bus and ferry transfer, but you will be limited to the ferry the ticket is for, buses operated by ferry companies take you to there pier. I did it the other way round, Samui to Bangkok, purchased a combo ticket, specified, date, train and seat. along with open ferry and transfer bus ticket, this was for the Lomprayah high speed cat, 45 mins to the mainland half the time of the car ferries, but this only sails 3 times a day, the car ferries sail every hour from 6am to 6pm, no night sailings. I am sure you can purchase a bus ticket on arrival at Sarat train station, many of the cafe's out front will probably sell you a ticket, but I did hear they should not be trusted, some one stated that they switched their tickets for a poorer service, but I am also sure you could buy one from the bus attendant for the correct fare.
