More officials suspected of corruption to be suspended

In the last 15 years how many times have we witnessed headlines like this.

Not once. Never.

A sweeping clearing out of the police force was a nice start.

I take my hat of to the democracy restoration team (NCPO) for bringing about a change that strengthens the majorities decision in supporting the current government.

Of course the word "conspiracy" will no doubtable surface..They are the feeble death throws of a dying regime. However when one side commits corruption more than a bar girl accepts tips in Nana on a Saturday night then the chances are they will the ones caught out more often.

Just like Suthep is being held accountable for his misgivings these current people are to.

Of course the "time travelers" will say Suthep will get off. Why? Because they have to rely on beliefs as opposed to facts. They predict the future that has always turned out incorrect. Rice scheme success. Amnesty fostering reconciliation. etc etc

In German we have the sayings "The fish stinks from its head" and "a crow will never pick out an other crow's eye".

While I agree, that all suspects must have the right to be innocent until proven guilty beyond any reasonable doubt, I'm afraid that within a few years, the culprits - if they are declared as such at all -, they or their proxies will be back in business with all their glory, privileges, dignity and honour.

I don't expect any system, based on aggession - states in general, not just Thaland -, to be able to take care of themselves. Benevolent / just state is one of the best definitions for an oxymoron.

That's why I won't hold my breath for "any justice" executed... And anybody else shouldn't do it either. The potential for big disappointments are huge. At least that's my experience.

I had to become quite old to realize, that my religion, to believe into the infallibility of a state, was absolutely futile; Be it a so-called democracy or not.

Really? Or just a few tokens being swept under the carpet? Tokenism is useless....Thailand needs the Hong Kong and Singapore approach....zero tolerance ( but not just payback against political opponents). It might take 20 years or longer but it can be done.

If zero tolerance were to be applied in Thailand then the corridors of power would indeed be an empty place !!

A few years ago I needed a document from the Amphur...My wife told me that I would have to "give" at least 500.- THB to obtain it. When we arrived at the "chief's" desk and got the document, I held the 500.-Thb in my hand. The "chief" said : "Oh, no, I can not take this...but you can give it to my secretary..." ..."Pure Thainess..."

It's posted on the wall of every immigration office I have ever been too.
