May 19, 201511 yr looking for someone to build us a house. are there any companies out there that build standard houses of a few choices for fixed amounts, bit like a brochure where you choose which one you want? alternatively any recommendations. preference would be to manage build myself and buy own materials but not being in Thailand makes this more difficult, us I have no experience in construction but an confident I could project manage.
May 19, 201511 yr We used a recommended builder to build our house. We paid him an agreed fee in stages for the build and we bought the best materials at the best price.. BUT...we were there to manage the project. If you are not there on site...forget it.
May 19, 201511 yr Land & House offer exactly what you are looking for - standard designs for various plot sizes. You can choose from their brochures, 3D displays, virtual tours etc. They will build it for you. But they wont sell just the design and construction drawings. Google the name.
May 19, 201511 yr BUT...we were there to manage the project. If you are not there on site...forget it. Exactly. It's a near full time job for a year, just to oversee things. But like someone else mentioned, if you buy in a commercial development by a reliable development company then it's possible. It'll result in a cookie-cutter house on a tiny plot with similar Legoland style houses all around, but it is feasible.
May 19, 201511 yr This guy did it all himself in an Isaan rural village - worth a read to give you some understanding of what is involved, and the 'issues' of dealing with Thai builders/tradesmen. Once you read it, the advice to be ON SITE every day is very very important. Otherwise do not do it. And I assume you know the laws about buying land in Thailand. http://tonyinthailand.com/category/building-my-house/page/6/ (there are several pages - start at beginning and read each one). I was also recommended Land and Houses - live in one they made - they do a reasonable job but not as good as back home (nobody in Thai does - no building/trades laws).
