Putin accuses US of meddling into FIFA affairs

" Putin said even if "someone has done something wrong," Russia "has nothing to do with it." "

Hmmmm .... what's that line about 'he doth protest too much' ? Seriously Vlad, at least wait until they point some fingers at you before screaming out your innocence.

Soooooo the Women's World Cup is about to start in Canada and Canada has a habit of rubber stamping extraditions to the US. What are the chances the FIFA VIP rooms are suspiciously empty of FIFA VIPs?

Maybe the US and Swiss looked at the list and decided that none of he implicated parties would be attending?

You make a very good point though, because one would have thought they might have waited before issuing arrest warrants. However, the nature of some of the involved parties lends them a bit of political cover. Several of the implicated FIFA officials are members of government bodies and might have qualified for immunity as "diplomats". I don't know if Canada would have arrested the Warren fellow as he was an opposition MP in Trinidad & Tobago. Mind you, the T&T officials already took him into custody.

Interesting enough, some of the possibly guilty Brazilian officials are now being scrutinized at home because Brazilians are fed up with their corrupt soccer body ad I expect that we will see a few arrests initiated by South Americans soon.

Wow!

In sum, the Guardian put the total Qatar death toll of workers from Nepal, India and Bangladesh at 964 in 2012 and 2013.

The US had very good reasons for "meddling" into the affairs of FIFA. Some of the deals were done on US soil and involved US citizens. And involved officials from Concacaf.

As with the 2014 Winter Olympics, the choice of Russia as host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup has been challenged.

Controversial issues have included the level of racism in Russian football, and perceived discrimination against LGBT people in wider Russian society.

Russia's involvement in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine has also caused calls for the tournament to be moved, particularly following the annexation of Crimea and military intervention in Eastern Ukraine, as well as Russia's alleged role in the destruction of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. FIFA President Sepp Blatter has declined requests for the tournament to be moved.

Allegations of corruption in the bidding processes for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups were cleared by the Garcia Report, although its findings were rejected by several countries.

America can investigate The American dollar, where ever it is used in the world, Some of the Alleged backhanders where paid in american Dollars, so By American Law they can investigate.

If Putin is worried that the US is trying to take the games away from Russia, the answer is simple,

Don't to anything illegal and you have nothing to worry about.

Do you mean do everything American way?

Is Switzerland a US colony? Their behavior suggests so.

Big brother, little brother, that's all but you're on the right track.

In currency, finance, gold, petrodollars, forex and forex reserves, central banks and banking, etc etc the two are one. Anyone paying attention knows this. They know it in Zurich, New York, London.

I'd bet that within a couple of years Fifa will choose a city in the USA which is what the big money wanted for 2022 The US Soccer Committee had submitted 70 stadia in 50 cities involving huge bucks, narrowing the final list to 18 big ones.

Bladder got a minor scare but it was always the case that he can stay as long as things change. In fact it's not too late to change the 2022 venue because the US Committee can use existing infrastructure, communications, transportation, human resources etc to make swift and efficacious arrangements.

(When the USA decides it's time for China to host the Cup, that will happen too, same as with the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing which Prez Clinton and US corporate sponsors had lobbied the IOC for along with lobbying every government in the world. But not until the USA gets the Fifa Cup contest first.)

Realpolitiks and big bucks.

See the above.

Russia meanwhile can try indefinitely to sell its snow to raise money, which says all anyone might need to know about Russia going forward in the century.

unfortunately the country is run by Clepto-crats who are more interested in lining their pockets that the future of the country and are trying to divert attention from that fact by blaming the US or attacking it's neighboring countries either directly or by proxies. ,

what does that have to do with FIFA coruption?

because America attacks other countries, they shroud not prosecute illegal activity by sports associations???

and what does Putting has to worry about, if he does not engage in illegal activity as it relates to FIFA he has nothing to worry about the games being taken away from him

if he does, those responsible would be prosecuted.

and it would not be the US that pulls the games, it will be FIFA

By the way, I was just following an other thread on the most corrupt countries in the world

Russia was # 35 below Sierra Leone and above Kenya, the only other European countries at #33 Ukraine and #44 Belarus all in the same neighborhood

. No other European countries made the top 100, and the US was 161

So Putin has good reason to be worried

Double wow. Outrageous beyond words. What is striking to me is how the world pretty much ignores this. If these deaths in Qatar were westerners and not dirt poor workers from Nepal, India, and Bangladesh, would the world pay more attention? And this in the year 2015.
