What Happens When Non Imm O Visa Runs Out?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

just want to check something as current visa upheavals are making me a bit paranoid.

I'm currently on a One Year Non Imm O Visa. I'm in the 5th 90 day segment of the visa - i.e. it was due to expire in August, I left and returned to Thailand just before it expired and I got the 90 day extension. It's now due to expire in November.

I am about to go to Hanoi for a long weekend on Friday.

My question is

1) Leaving the country will presumably invalidate my Non Imm Visa and it wont be renewed when I return

2) So that does that mean I will be OK to get a 30 day visa waiver on arrival when I return to Thailand like a normal tourist (I'm British)

I'm suddenly worried that I won't be given the 30 day visa waiver when I come back on Sunday.... which would leave me as Mr Lonely in the airport...

Any advice appreciated

You can get a re-entry permit from your local immigration office.

This will allow you to go to Hanoi and return to use the remainder of your current 90 days.

You could pay 1,000 baht for a re entry permit before you travel and not have to worry about it. That would keep your current 90 day stay alive.

In any case, if you leave without a re entry permit and expired visa it will die. You can then return on a new visa or a 30 day visa exemption entry at the border. As it will be prior to Oct 1st the new regulations should not have any effect (however they decide to count the days/entries).
