non immigrant ED Visa with mutiple entry- have to leave country?

Featured Replies

Hello

I am having a bit trouble understanding how my Visa works.

I have a non immigrant ED mutiple entry visa. The stamp i got when arriving in Thailand says "admitted until: 12 Juin"

With this visa, do i have to leave to either Laos or Burma and reenter Thailand to get a new stamp ? or is there another way ?

And if i have to leave any suggestions which way to go ? And do i have to leave before the 12 or can i leave on the 12 of Juin?

I am staying in Chiang Mai.

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you will need to exit and re-enter on or before 12 june.

You can get extension of stay from immigrations if your school provides all correct paperwork.

You have to leave every 90 days to get a new entry.

You must leave on or before June 12th to get a new entry.

The closest place to do it is at Mae Sai.

If you are attending a school that is registered with the ministry of education you could possibley apply for an extension of stay with documents from them at an immigration office. You could apply for the extension during the last 30 days of any of the 90 day entries your visa allows.

Thank you for the responses so far !!

I am doing an internship at a company, could they provide those papers ?

And would i have to pay for the extension ?

You will not be able to secure an extension on the basis of an "internship" unless the "internship" is associated with study at a Thai university.

You can only get an extension on an internship if is done through a Thai university.

An extension costs 1,900 baht per extension.

Leaving and re-entering will cost you the travel cost plus the visa cost to enter another coutry.

It might be better to leave and re-enter, as obtaining the correct paperwork for an extension might proof dificult. I presume your internship is not part of your study at a Thai educational facility and you do not have a work permit.
