How is Pepper today? I hope he is feeling better.

Be careful about naming and shaming, in any country it could turn round and bite you. pun intended.

Look at my Av, that cat had normal ears until the nasty vet gave him an injection!! We actually wanted his <deleted> to grow....!!

UPDATE.

Last Friday I had a message from my Lawyer that he finally managed to get in touch with the owner of the Vet Clinic, that is the Doctor than runs it. Anyway it appears the conversation didn't go very well and he refuses to meet with us.

My Lawyer said the only course of action now was to proceed with a Court hearing.

My girlfriend (Thai) has reservations over the legal system in Thailand and justice being served.

She thought it was better that I just dropped it.

I decided on principal that sometimes, win or lose you have to make a stand for what is right.

I decided to call his bluff and told my Lawyer to file for a hearing, which he did on Friday afternoon.

This afternoon I get a phone call to tell me the Doctor wants to meet us next week.

I have no idea why the sudden change of heart, unless he was served with a notice from the Court this morning.

Anyway at least we are moving in the right direction again.

Pepper is still improving. Hopefully in another 3 weeks his tissue will have healed completely.

He hasn't adjusted to only having one secure back leg yet. Sometimes he tries to put weight the other leg, only to lose his balance and almost topple. He's at last getting out a bit more in the garden now and enjoying some fresh air.

My hats off to you Faz for being such a stubborn a$$.

Good on you. I am certain that Doc already knows about the lawsuit and wants to settle it, HOWEVER i must warn you, Your lawyer and the Doc may do a deal behind your back. Be aware and keep your eyes open.

You should be able to spot it one way or another.

By deal i mean that Doc will pay lawyer a sum for you to loose the case, in which case you pay the lawyer(so he gets paid twice) and then also pay ALL Doc fees.

Not being negative, just wanted to warn you of local dealings. Have had the displeasure of being sold out behind my back.

For Pepper, it can take up to 1 year to to recover in case of leg.

One of my dogs had a knee surgery some years ago and it took her 1 year to recover, though she was never 100 % the same, in term of leg.

This was back in Oz, and surgery done by real pro, specialist, cost over $10 000.

After the surgery, she went swimming 2 times per week and (sorry will try to explain in detail) Doc instructed to use towel around her tummy when going outside for walks to give support. So basically i had to hold it up a little, so that she would not have to carry the weight , she was 36kg

Every day the same, but i released tension of the towel little by little, giving her more confidence to use the back leg.

Very similar to people, we use crutches first, then walking stick before being able to fully apply the weight.

Swimming also really helped, even though dogs use front legs to swim, the fact that moving the back leg was NOT painful she gained confidence and muscle in the back legs.

Hope it helps, try it out for few days/weeks and see if there is any difference.

as konying warns you about crooked lawyers, its not gona be rocket science to spot a carve up,so just settle for whatever is on the table, just having him to put his hand in is pocket and most of all him to say SORRY.would give me great pleasure.enough to buy pepper some fillet steak.if i lived close to you i would give him a kilo or 2.so hats off to you faz and hope its settled soon.

Faz, everything work out ok for Pepper?

I'll admit I am a tad curious about the vet nonsense but moreso I'd like to hear that pepper has his old spice back and is "burning up" the place again

i.e. back to normal health and behaviour

Thanks for your concerns weka.

I've had grave concerns about Peppers behaviour over the last few weeks.

I'm no dog psychologist, but I'd say he has been suffering from depression, if that's possible.

Hardly surprising after what he's been through!

After arriving back home he became very lethargic, sleeping most of the time and he lost all appetite, sometimes not eating anything for 3 days at a time. Even turning down his favourite treats. It's been a job and a half just finding something that he would eat. I even wondered if I was doing the right thing for him, or should I have had him put to sleep.

However, in the last few days, he's started to eat regularly again, which is a relief, and to be more active.

For the first time in weeks, I actually managed to get him to venture beyond the garden gate. Once outside, his dog instincts took over, smelling around, interacting with a couple of neighbours dogs and more important interacting much more with me and the g/f.

Hopefully I can keep this going now, although his back leg will never be the same again he is slowly learning to adapt.

He constantly licks his front left paw, no chewing, but I've checked it several times and can't find anything wrong with it. No swelling, no wound, no ticks, no pain............nothing, so it's a bit of a mystery at the moment.

On the legal front, it's slow going. My lawyer met with the Vet in an attempt to reach a settlement, but this guy is in self denial that he is responsible for any claim. He still refuses to actually meet with me and the g/f.

My lawyer has now taken a step towards him being served with some document or other from the government, in an attempt to avoid Court if possible and spiralling costs.

My lawyer isn't impressed with the Vets attitude and commented he's f****** Chinese.

He has reservations that this Vet will just continue to flout the law.

So it may be Plan B!

as the topic is A DOGS LIFE IN THAILAND this is where it should be.

we who love ours dogs as one of the family knows what we in thailand have to endevour keeping them safe.

yesterday again we had an unwanted visitor,a 2mtr.+ snake,as our boy wanted a fight he certainly got one bitten twice and i ended up knackered with trying to catch the dog and avoiding getting bit.well as i was on my own i managed to get my boy into the house, then go looking for the invader, who was still full of fight.

i couldnt make out what type as its back was very dark but after i administered his last rites i still wasnt sure.

i called the vet straight away and he came in 3minutes and checked our boy all over and gave him an injection.he was surprised to see how big the snake was but he did confirm it was not poisoness.jesu what a relief, got him blood tested aswell and i needed a pick me-up 6cans of cider.

as for our boy he just came indoors and slept till dinner time.

so it is heartbreaking if you loose a mans best freind, but anyone who wants to bring their loved ones to thailand need to read up on all thats been posted in the past.

hope the vet is right he said its only a 2 week course.

We're lucky, not had any snakes on the property that I've seen.

Just as well it wasn't a poisonous snake, you were lucky.

Pepper is doing great now, back to his old perky self.

The legal action seems to have stalled, I need to chase it up.

How do you manage 13 tablets a day meatboy.

I used to hide the tablets in meat, but his nose could still detect them and he'd leave those pieces alone.

Sticking them down his throat one at a time was the only option and neither of us enjoyed the experience.

Those ticks are a nuisance. I got him cleared up once but there seems to be an infestation of them again and he gets two or three every time he goes on the garden. I use anti tick shampoo and a collar to some effect, but there not 100% so I check him daily.

unless you seen for yourself its hard to beleive, when the vet comes he wags his tail and lays down for him, after food the wife gives him the tabs and he swallows them in one go nothing bothers him at all only danger and that is the only time he barks,so we always knows something is about.

oh and he dont like the ticks,if he can get one off his body he will stand there looking at it and will bark till one of us gets it.

sometimes i wonder if he knows whats poisonous and whats not,its the same with a takarb he wont touch them.

i am so glad pepper is back to his old self i am not 100% sure what i would have done,i did tell my vet [good freind] if anything goes wrong with my boy Y DIE.
