How long before you can you remarry in Thailand after divorce overseas

Hi,

I have read it is 300 odd days before you can remarry if divorce done in Thailand, but if marriage was not registered in Thailand and divorce in another country has just been completed. Do you have to wait the 300 odd days too?

Restrictions depend on whether you're a man or woman and the rules of your country. Here is part of the elegibilty criteria from the website listed.

Either of them should not have a spouse at the time of marriage. If woman whose husband died or whose marriage has become terminated, the marriage can only take place after expiry of 310 days from such death or termination of marriage, but before such period if

• A child has been born during such period;
• The divorced couple remarry;
• There is a certificate showing that the woman is not pregnant;
• There is an order of the Court allowing the woman to marry.

So in fact there is no minimum waiting time - the only issue is whether or not the female is pregnant or not.

The 300 day rule for women makes sense in strange way. I guess if a man divorces a woman and then finds out she is pregnant with his child it's a chance they will get back together, if she has remarried that would be a problem.

The answer on your question is "no".

If you are divorced in a other country, you can marry in thai without waiting.

BUT... Your devorce certificate from the country where you divorced, must be translated and legalized with a stamp of the ministry of foreing affairs.

If you got that, you can marry in thai directly.

why would anyone get married so quickly.... i would wait at last 5 years where around the 3 year mark you work out if you want to be together or not (marriage).
