New Visa Rules

Featured Replies

I have been reading all the pages about the new visa-rules.

Do the new rules apply only to tourists ?

We, who are legally married to a thai woman and have a running bussiness. Who have been living here for years on one-year multiple-entries visas and have work permits - do we get affected of these new rules ? Anybody have some knowledge about this item ?

As the rule changes are now you should not be affected. This action targetted mainly 30 day visa-exempt stamps (to crack down on illegal workers according to the public statements) and for some reason also investment visas....

Cheers!

There are new rules about Business Visas, but they only appear to target "newly formed" or burgeoning companies. If you have been and continue in business then these changes should not affect you.

The key change seems to be that Business Visas will be more difficult to get unless there is a work permit already issued. There has always been a slight chicken and egg situation here on this, but looking forward the assumption has to be that prior to coming to the Kingdom a business founder would start set-up, and apply for a Non-Imm B. Looks like only a single entry would be provided and once in Thailand the WP application would need to be completed so as to allow for the extension of the Non-Imm B.

Err I think... :o still haven't seen the formal notes on this.

Regards
