Body of Russian washed-up on Pattaya Island Beach

PATTAYA: -- Pattaya Sea Rescue Units were called to Larn Island, 4kms off the coast of Pattaya, on Tuesday Morning, following the discovery of a body, thought to be a Russian who went missing 2 days prior to the discovery.

The man was identified as Mr. Roman Makarov aged 47 from Russia. He was still wearing a mask and snorkel and was washed-up on Hasaem Beach on the Island.

He had gone to the Island 2 days before with his girlfriend who was left on the beach while Mr. Makarov went snorkeling.

Body of Russian tourist found on Koh Larn beach

Koh Larn, Chon Buri:- The body of a Russian tourist was found on a beach of Koh Larn off Pattaya coast Tuesday, two days after he disappeared while snorkeling near the island, the Pattaya police chief said.


Pattaya police chief Pol Col Sukthat Pumpanmuang and Pol Lt Chorphaka Prueksachart, an interrogator of the Pattaya police station, as well as other officers rushed to the Samae beach in Ban Koh Lan village of Tambon Naklua in Chon Buri's Bang Lamung district at 10 am shortly after the police station was informed of the body.

Could it be possible that even the most dedicated TV sleuth will find it impossible to extrapolate a murder or a conspiracy from this one?

Tragic news for his girlfriend and family back home, we go on holiday and take it for granted that we shall have a good time and return home safely, not one of us will ever think of this happening to us!

Several things could have happened depending on how good of a snorkler he was. My first guess is he dove down to deep ran out of air tried to make a rapid ascent inhaled while still underwater choked and then drowned!

Of course here in Thailand land of "kooks and nuts who drive motor boats and jet skies with total disregard for anyone's safety whether they are on the beach or in the water may have caused the untimely dimise of the snorkler.
