Widow pension from Denmark

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I have a private pension from Denmark and when I die my (Thai) wife will continue to get the pension.

At that time she has to contact the Danish tax office and get an ID Number and "Tax Card". She also has to open a Danish Bank Account.

It can not be done in advance and obviously I'm not here to do it for her.

Is anyone else in the same situation and what have you told your wife to do?

I wonder if the Danish Embassy would help her!?.

If you prefer to answer in Danish, then just send me a PM.

Can you not open a bank account in joint names, your name and your wife's name?

Good idea; assuming she can keep it, after I'm "gone".

I will check with my Bank.

After some investigation, I found out, that it's simpler than I thought.

She has to contact the Danish Tax office; and they will issue both a Tax card and ID number for her.

The pension can be directly transferred to a Thai Bank account.

Make sure she knows who and where to contact, and let's hope she doesn't need that information for many years yet.

Thank you very much. And; as with other stuff, I will tell our son what to do. He is better in such things.
