The Nation

CHIANG MAI: -- The National Doi Inthanon Park warned tourists to ride cautiously up and down the Doi Inthanon Mountain because rains have made the road very slippery.

Pornthep Charoensuebsakul, chief of the park, said it has been raining on the mountain nearly throughout the day almost everyday since the rainy season started. He said road accidents happened everyday during the past three or four days.

Why don't they find a way to collect rain water in bulk from places that enjoy bountiful rains and pump thise water to other parts of the country where ther is drought going on. A lot of work and money will be involved, but there is no rocket science involved, and the project to redistribute water from where it is abundant to where it is needed should be considered as a long-term investment that will continue to pay dividends to the people and the country in terms of higher agricultural productivity and better quality agricultural products.

first rain on asphalt does make roads slick due to oil from prior traffic if it continues, the need to review maintance of road and what how this years thin skim of oil was applied.this is another area which presents a golden oppurnity for corrupt activity
