Foreign Worker 'Protector' arrested by Pattaya Police

PATTAYA: -- On Friday Night Pattaya Police arrested a 28 year old Thai man who was allegedly extorting money from foreign workers in exchange for protection by the Police, even though the man is not a Police Officer and has no connections with the Police.

Mr. Korn aged 24 from Cambodia sells fruit on the streets and notified Police that he was approached by the suspect, Khun Aree, on Pattaya Second Road in front of Soi 13. He informed Mr. Korn that he was a Police Officer and would have to pay him 500 Baht per month in exchange for “protection”.

Mr. Korn was confused by the situation and just decided to pay the man what he had in his pocket, which was 300 Baht in 20 Baht notes, and promised he would pay the rest as soon as he had it.

Mr. Korn was suspicious and decided the best course of action would be to contact Pattaya Police who arrested the suspect at the Dolphin Roundabout in North Pattaya.

You know they weren't going to let anyone else in on that racket.

Exactly!

"....allegedly extorting money from foreign workers in exchange for protection by the Police, even though the man is not a Police Officer"

Extorting money probably considered is the exclusive domain of the BiB.

I think they should give this chancer extra porridge for being a very naughty boy.

Great pointing but the photographer should have got the 'perp' to look contritely at the camera.

Closing his eyes is almost a denial of guilt.

Standards are slipping.

Mr. Korn aged 24 from Cambodia, please, now go back to your country, or you will pay with your life pointing this moron.

The police are always going to act quickly and arrest anyone encroaching on there turf. tongue.png

Let me rewrite this a little ... some writers never get it right.

"... who was allegedly extorting money from foreign workers while not a police officer in exchange for protection from people who are not police officers."

that is hilarious writing by this reporter. Basically admitting that extortion is solely the job for the police, priceless. Best laugh of the day so far.

Weeeelll.... somebody had to point laugh.png
