our farm pays all our living costs,

i still go to work from time to time, the money i earn goes into my bank here in thailand that just stays there, if we ever needed a major item like the guest rooms we have just had built then the money would come out of there,

when i was away last time i came home to over 150,000bht in my desk draw, money from the pigs, i said why didnt you put it into the farm bank acount, wife said i wanted to wait for you so we can do together like allways,

the farm bank acount is there for both of us,

we dont spend much at all, we still have a good life and do the things we want to do but we both enjoy being together and working the farm, not that i do much you must understand as i dont have a work permit, as some of the jelouse on here will point out,

so if you look on youtube you will just see my wife working on the farm,

my ex wife in the uk i will add, had a free hand on the money and it cost me a fortune as to this day i think i kept her family also, just the same as some on here think all falang must do here,

im the same as others on here, my wife and i are a partnership im not the boss we talk about things if we want to spend a good sum, it was my idea for the guest rooms,i said to her it will let other falang if they want to come and see that you can make a happy life here in thailand, i know having a farm,(pigs also) isnt everyones cup of tea but they could come here and just see what can be done with a little hard work and a lot of effort from both of us,

we only have 2 rai but it works for us,

so to stop me rambling on,

if i want something i talk it over with my wife and the same goes for my wife,

my wife has her own money everyday from her ducks, that is her everyday money, when it comes to bills that just comes out the farm acount,

You got er made in the shade. Good wife good game plan real success story. Unfortunately we do not all strike gold here immediately. It took me a while to get the lay of the land so to speak. I always feel sorry for the beginners that come here with stars in their eyes. This is not Hollywood. I try to coach as many as I can from what I have experienced. I make friends easy but do not want a lot of friends at my age to time consuming.

thats the main reason i built the guest rooms,to try and help people who first come to thailand, if people want to come and have a look at what can be done with only a little bit of land, you dont have to go buying 100s of rai, take you time build up slow,

people can come here have a look round and ask us questions, like i said in our web site farming isnt for every one, i understand that, but it just shows that you can make a nice life here,

sorry i dont mean to hug the thread gerry, im just trying to help as i allways do

I know a couple of Thai women who grew up on farms and the only time they want to see a chicken again is after it's been Kentucky fried. But good luck to you and the wife, PJ.

I take control of the purse strings.

Since it is all my money anyhow (savings, I am retired) I prefer it that way.

She gets an allowance and it was the early days of that situation that taught me she was a risk!

I must admit she has improved over the years, but I am reticent to change the situation.

Sounds more like hired help than a relationship.

No, it is rather different than a hired help.

I can't afford to lose everything I have.

My wife is free to do whatever she like with the money she earns, none of my business.

She dont give me money, I dont give her money.

She has her bank acounts, I have mine, we have a joint account for household bills.

If your girl if telling you one of those Thai stories about men giving their money to the wife, it may be time to look elsewhere.

As far as I know it is normal for the Thai wife to run the household's finances. Neighbors I know the husband receives beer money after handing over the weekly wage to the wife. My Thai daughter (13) asks "why do you and mair have separate accounts when you are married?" I reply "because it is the farang way, and it stops arguments." So far so good!

Yes and i have yet to meet the first Thai woman talk about the latest trends on the stock market and their respective investment portfolio....but yet most need a calculator to deduct 300 baht from 500 baht .

After being married to a woman from Burriram and seing myself how almost all people who work in said agricultural sector get in to massive debt and reading about Thai farmers complaining and protesting about their lot in the English language media and Thailand centric websites i wonder how khun foreigner expects to make a baht in said sector ......

Depends on your age and circumstances so why not? OK for now but nothing stays the same.

She will probably outlive you and then arai na?blink.png not clear though if you're married or not...

As always you can't read a topic without a bitter filled response from some. I refer to some who feel the need to point out how anyone who trusts.......And has a relationship with the woman they have married are just kidding themselves and are fools to trust them.

Lets face it, theses individuals who post; 'your a fool if you trust your wife posts' are a testament to how not to get ahead in life from the things they say, I can see why there wives are taking them for a ride at every opportunity. These posts speak volumes about the type of individual writing them... as opposed to who they are writing about.

I await with baited breath more informative posts, such as; 'Don't let your wife talk to her family', (they plot against you).....and 'Don't let your wife have any Thai friends', (they will plot to BBQ you) and..... I test my wife and spy on her every day, (it's the only way to trust them) ha ha.

But seriously a really a big thanks to these 'sad not-a-clue' posts, I now feel all is well in the world for me.

The wife deals mostly with the finances, although she does keep me up to speed with what's going on, I'm quite happy with that setup since she's saved us quite a few baht in the last few years,, she also gets involved some small scale investments, and works hard to get some small return from working our small piece of land we have, I know we'd be much worse off if I sorted out the spending,, joint decision when we purchased a new car this year, which incidentally was the first new motor I've ever had, all my previous motors in UK were second hand, so she must be doin something right with the money

heres a couple of videos of my wife working away,,lol

Bitterness is very evident on TVP's and misogyny shows up a lot. I think there a many guys through their own fault or not have been seriously burnt and now they are stuck here and this website can be a good farang outlet for complaints which can provide a safety valve.

Well that makes a change from those who have wives 30 years younger! But do you guarantee she will still go first because she's older? Sh-t happens.Even water buffaloes get sick.

The point is, could she manage your estate and affairs were you to die before her? If you gave her the skills to do what you are doing so simply now maybe she could cope without you. I apologize if I sound presumptuous but you have not revealed any contingencies, you just sound content with your independence and your $10 mouse.

Most of that stuff is arranged if one of us would kick the bucket and most of it is personal so no need to boast about said things on an anonymous website with total strangers. As a few posts before i do not understand why a person boasts about the fact that his Thai wife has 150.000 thb proceeds from farming laying around the house and will soon be entertaining guests total strangers in the extra rooms he built adjecent to his farm and al this on a site like tv....ahum.

So il stick with my 10 dollar mouse any time.

This should be interesting, a very diverse subject..................smile.png

For myself, the other half holds the purse strings for the household necessities. As a housewife should IMHO, I know my mother did all through my growing up.

Do I/should I trust her? Although anything is possible; not stupid enough to consider anything otherwise, after 16 years of marriage, yes I do.

If the trust isn't there, then the relationship is flawed from the start...........................wink.png

No doubt others will have different opinions/experiences.

No! I give my wife daily allowances, and it's not about trust. She just can't handle unlimited fonds, too goodhearted to say no to beggers of all kind. But she admits it as a fact, so no problem, we are together since 30 years, and anything else than money we have absolutely equal rights.

Perhaps her foolheartishness with money is the result of always having had it given to her rather than her working to earn it.

Men are worthless to themselves without money. However, women have the marvelous product and most manage to find a man to rent it.
