At 4:30am,Tha Chatchai police arrested Myanmar national, Kyaw Soe Miw, 30, who was found in possession of 2,178 ya bah pills when the bus he was travelling on was stopped at the islandʼs main checkpoint in Mai Khao.

Police had stopped the Had Yai-Phuket bus for a routine check, and upon boarding the bus police noticed Kyaw was acting suspiciously.

This led police to search Kyaw, who police said understood Thai very well and was fully cooperative when being searched, but they found nothing on his person.

However, when police searched his bag they found 11 bags containing a total of 2,178 pills hidden inside a hair-conditioner bottle.
