Registered Mail: Thailand to Germany

Featured Replies

I have sent a letter with registered mail from Thailand to Germany using the Thailand Post. When I go to the thai post homepage and enter the tracking number, the last entry that I see is:

"SUVARNABHUMI MAIL CENTRE Departure From Outward OE"

What does that exactly mean? Does the registered mail service not provide tracking further than that? As far as I understand it, the mail has arrived at it´s destination but I am just curious.

Thank you!

I had the same thing happen for an EMS to the US. The US post office tracking showed it delivered but no updates on Thai post.

You can check it here on Deutsche Post tracking. https://www.deutschepost.de/sendung/simpleQuery.html?locale=de_DE

Deutsche Post tracking is usually very bad :-)

Not showing details or don't even recognize the number.

Thanks for the info! Yeah...Deutsche Post does not recognize the tracking number.

Registered means nothing in Thailand. Outbound or especially inbound mail gets lost. Always use FedEx or similar courier.

I got and sent hundreds of registered mail and all without any exception arrived.

But I did lot 1 FedEx (also out of hundreds).

There has been a postal strike in Germany. It has led to severe delays.

There has been a postal strike in Germany. It has led to severe delays.

That's true. However, I received an online order on Tuesday (by Deutsche Post Express (?)) that was ordered on the previous Wednesday. Perhaps the strike is over?

German efficiency at its finest IMO, well impressed.............................thumbsup.gif

I've sent dozens of items by Thai Post, domestically and Internationally using both EMS and standard post and have never lost one.

I reside in Bangkok and I do understand that some of the provincial P.O.'s might not be well run but overall, a good system. Certainly much better than many western postal systems I've had to deal with.

The strike is over and letters should be in time.

But one of the main delays in mail delivery is in Frankfurt(!).

Mails can take days until they pass the bottleneck of the customs/security check.

Understaffed.

German inefficiency.

(they always have an argument for these strict checks, like south Americans sending many many "love letters" with drugs embedded/dissolved in paper blink.png )

It means the letter has cleared Thai customs and is waiting for a plane to take it to Germany.

Could be sitting there for anything up to 2 weeks.

Tracking will be up dated when it arrives in Germany
