Yes, and the transportation & banking systems as well. Sorry, joking. Dont worry, everything will be open as normal. Except alcohol will not be sold.

Yet another holiday and then again on the 12th.............unbeliviable

Of course all government offices and bank main branches (not in the shopping malls).

Four day long weekend!

Roads will be closed tongue.png by massive jams.

Stampede, 100's km of jams countrywide.

The Pattaya area will be a complete parking lot.

Gridlock at its best.

Stay home if you can or move by foot only.

and schools...........?

And TAT is advertising this as a "Return to Thainess."

Open ?, closed ? I don't think anyone really knows until faced with a " Closed " sign on the door.

I was trying to decide whether to fly out of BKK on the 29th or the 30th. This solves it for me. The 29th it is!

and schools...........?

Schools closed on 30 and 31 July.

Seems like not only in our district:

Is immigration open?

Of course not!

All government offices closed 30 and 31 (and the weekend thereafter).

At least one immigration office that publishes its calendar (in English!):

I am too on the 29th. Although I knew a holiday was coming, I didn't think it was coming up so fast. For this and many other reasons, I'm off to Cambodia to look for a new home.

I know...isn't it incredible....why some countries even have the nerve to hold a holiday over Christmas..then Boxing day and then more unbelievably New Years day!!

Three holidays in one week!!!!!

What's the world coming to!!

Are the airports closed during the holidays?

Didn't think so.

The fact that a holiday is coming is a reason to look for a new home in Cambodia?

What will you do when you find out they have holidays in Cambodia too?

Are the airports closed during the holidays?

Big misunderstanding biggrin.png

They are not closed but very busy and also traffic to/from the airports might be dense.

So its a good idea not to travel on July 30 and August 2.

Yep. I'm not fighting holiday traffic to the airport if I don't have to. Even if most of it is heading towards Pattaya, there will still be all manner of backups going the other way.

Folks,

Do be a bit more tolerant. You have to give the Thai People a chance to spend the money they haven't got!

  • 2 weeks later...

Good topic thank you!

Last time i asked, someone posted this excellent link IMHO:

http://www.boomboomme.com/resources/holidays/thailand/index.htm

I am mostly concerned about 7/11 beer sales though it might be a good opportunity to leave the stuff alone.

According to above link, no beer sales on 30 and 31 but most likely can buy on the 12.

Stocking up can be way too dangerous when it comes to imbibing. gigglem.gif
