Reservoirs in Roi Et still have sparse water

ROI ET, 22 July 2015 (NNT) – Water levels of reservoirs and rivers in Roi Et Province are still at low levels, while the public are still persuaded to conserve water usage, the Roi Et governor says.

The Governor of Roi Et Somsak Changtrakul spoke on the Roi Et Radio Thailand broadcast this morning, addressing that the water levels in 11 reservoirs, Chi River, Lamnam Young Canal, and Lamnam Saio Canal is still at low levels despite increased precipitation.

The current water level in Chi River is recorded at 7 meters below the river bank, meaning the river is capable of storing much more water.

The Roi Et governor added that the 11 reservoirs in the province are capable of holding water at a total of 69 million cubic meters, but the current volume is at 13 million cubic meters, or at 19 percent total capacity.

He then asked the people of Roi Et to help conserve water usage, in line with the Prime Minister’s policy that calls for maximum efficiency when using water nationwide.
