Police nab six suspected members of drug gang
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police have seized 180,000 yaba pills and 7 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, worth Bt40 million in street value, and also nabbed six suspects, who reportedly belong to a drug trafficking gang operated by a prison inmate.

Three suspects arrested more recently were presented at the press conference yesterday, namely Surasak Tangkham, 35; his wife Kulrat Watchareesewin, 35; and another woman Atchara Paothong, 36; along with the drugs, two pistols and ammunition.

They were arrested after Chawalit Limpanich, 39, who was caught with 80 yaba pills and one pistol in Krabi's Muang district, and two accomplices, who were caught with 930 Yaba pills in Nua Khlong district, reportedly pointed to Surasak.

Up North, a stash of 38,000 yaba pills was discovered in a forested area in Phayao's Muang district. Investigator Pol Colonel Bovorn Chaikham said this might be part of the June 2 incident in which police had seized 198,000 yaba pills from a pick-up truck and a ditch nearby, though the two suspects had escaped.
