July 30, 201510 yr Looking at flights over the next couple of weeks from Heathrow are quite expensive. Over 600 pounds direct one way with Eva. But I could get a cheap flight to Amsterdam at 50 pounds where Eva flights are 400 pounds direct to Bangkok. Anyone try this. I could even factor in an overnight stay in Amsterdam. July 30, 201510 yr Amsterdam is not only the cheapest way to go, but also plenty to do if longer stayover. For many Thaivisa members it's their prefered itinerary. Yermanee
July 30, 201510 yr If no luggage, cheaper to go via Stockholm with Norwegian on the 18th for £270 including the flight from London. With luggage £305 Edited July 30, 201510 yr by Jiu-Jitsu
July 30, 201510 yr School holidays now. A Swedish friend of mine always crosses over to Denmark as its cheaper. Hes got a return flight with Thai Air tax included in beginning September for £275...!!!..even he couldn't believe its that cheap...You may wanna check that route. Copenhagen
July 30, 201510 yr Sri Lankan out of Rome for a lot of August dates at @£350 one way. Cost a few quid more at this time of year to get the Rome flight so maybe not a saving over Amsterdam. However it allows you to break your flight in Colombo for a few days, great for me as I like Sri Lanka but maybe not your thing.
July 31, 201510 yr How are any of the above better value than £305 from London?? No sarcasm intended but maybe because they aren't LCC's, some people rightly or wrongly just don't want to use LCC's

I've already pointed out a very clear upside. Do you think flying with China Airlines or EVA will be a better experience? Have you flown this route on these airlines? I have. All three. All three. ..and the winner is? Norwegian, at that price. Otherwise EVA and China Airlines are much of a muchness in Economy.. Of course if they were all the same price, I wouldn't choose Norwegian. I used Norwegian for a last minute flight and it was fine. Slept for most of the flight. There was even Jet Airways from London on the 18th for sale yesterday for £273. Now sold out on that day. Cheap flights start again in the third week of August. All from London. No need to take a separate flight to AMS. EVA direct from London on the 20th; £375. Edited August 1, 201510 yr by Jiu-Jitsu

I didnt say there was anything wrong with LCCs, you were asking for a reason why people thought the others were better value and I was offering a suggestion as to why they may think that. I am not able to comment on LCCs as I sit up front.

The OP clearly doesn't plan to "sit up front" so you comment looks solely for self-gratification. I can state that sometimes I do and sometimes I don't, but that is completely irrelevant to the thread. The OP hasn't mentioned wanting to fly in Business or First.
