How long can I stay with my NON-B after selling my business?

Featured Replies

Hi you all,

If I am selling my business in Thailand and I have to return my WP to the labour office, but still have my NON-B visa valid until April -16, so can I stay with it until that or do I have to leave from the country and how soon??

Some people say I could stay until April -16 with it just by doing 90-days reports as usually, because labour office don't report to immigration that I returned my WP...

And some people says I have 7 days time to get put of the country and go to get tourist visa...

I wonder which way is the right way or are they both wrong.

Please if someone knows what is the truth so let me know, thanks! smile.png

If you are doing 90 day reports it means you are on an extension of stay based on employment and not on a visa. When you lose employment you need to go to immigration to apply for a new extension. This will be denied but you are given a 7 day extension to pack up and leave.

Thanks Gulfsailor!

Ok, so I need to leave the country really fast...It is kind of weird that they don't give more time to do that after 7 years living in here....have alot packing and selling...

Is there any neighbour countries who still gives double entries Tourist Visas easily to Thailand?

If you have a Non Imm B Visa you can continue to use it.

If you have an extension of stay you have to leave on that day or visit Immigration and get 7 days.

Vientienne and Savanakhet Laos will issue 2 entry Tourist Visas.

Lite Beer I have one year NON-B valid until 3rd of April 2016, I have had NON-B visa past 7 years.

So do you mean I can continue to stay with it even if I don't have any business here anymore?

This is what I mean, some people says I must go out in 7 days and some says I can stay until visa runs out...

This statement you made "Some people say I could stay until April -16 with it just by doing 90-days reports as usually, because labour office don't report to immigration that I returned my WP..." Would suggest you do not have a visa for which 90 day reporting would not be required.

It is more than likely you have an "extension of stay" based on working obtained from an immigration office.

Such an extension ceases to be valid on the day you cease work.

Ok, I go to immigration to ask... I don't want to do anything wrong in this country...

Thank you all for the answers!

Tis really simple.

Every 90 days, do you leave Thailand or report your stay to immigration ?

If you leave, you have a visa and are ok until 3rd of april 2016. If you report your stay then you have no visa and will have 7 days to sort you stuff (or leave the country and obtain another visa).

Did you get your "Visa" from Immigration in Thailand or an Embassy in another country?

If you have to leave the country every 90 days and obtained it at a Thai consulate, you're good to go until the visa expires.

But if you've always done your TM 47 form for Aliens every 90 days, you'll have to see the Immigration and you can get seven days for 1,900 baht.

Sorry I was gone for a while...

No, I don't go to any visa runs in every 90 days, I have one year business visa, it was more expensive but no need to do visa runs with it, I just go to inform my address every 90 days to immigration office.

My B-visa is made in Thai immigration in Thailand, not in any embassy outside of Thailand.

I am a little bit confused with this, so as soon as I sell my business I need to go to immigration office, pay 1900b for 7 more days and get out from the country? It seems to be pretty fast, because they even give us 10 days time to return WP to labour office after not having work anymore...

Could you scan and post the most recent one year business visa obtained from Thai immigration?

Ok it is easy then.

You are here on a permission to stay extension based on employment.... this expires as soon as you cancel (obviously you are no longer employed hence the reason for the extension is cancelled).

BUT.....

If you entered Thailand on a non b visa (this was obtained outside of Thailand) , what is the expiration date of that visa, if it is still valid you can stay until it expires.

But you say you got a non b in country......

I reckon you are fried.

whistling.gif That's why we keep stressing that a Visa is what you get from Outside of Thailand..... an extension of your visa that you got from outside of Thailand is given at Thai immigration inside Thailand.

They are not the same thing and they have different requirements.

If you are going every 90 days for reporting you have an extension of your entrance visa that you got originally outside of Thailand from a Thai consulate or embassy.

Then alter you went to your local immigration and extended that visa by reason of being employed in Thailand.

That was probably when you got your work permit also.

The bad news is that your extension also ends when your work permit ends when you quit your job.

If you are really here on an extension of your original visa that you got outside of Thailand it is probably expired

Your extension of that visa also ended when you no longer were working..... when your company sent your work permit back to the Labor office when you terminated your job.

In that case you will need to leave Thailand and get another visa of some kind if you want to stay in Thailand or in your case I suppose you sold your business.

Ok, I looked my old passport also...

When I started to have a business here in Thailand I went to KL to get my first multible Non-B visa and 3-4 next ones also. At that time I was also going out from the country every 90-days to get stamped (that sucks).

I asked how I can get visa without exiting country and I had to pay more tax to Thailand to get it and I did.

So, you are all right, my orginal Non-B visa was made in KL, the last time I have entered to Thailand is 4th of Jan 2013 (I looked from my departure card between my passport). So since then, I have got my 1 year visa extensions from Thailand (3 times) and this last one ends in April -16.

I hope you understand what I mean? (I am not native english speaking as you can tellsmile.png)

That is what people have been telling you !

You have an extension of stay which ceases to be valid on the day you stop working.

As said a 7 day extension can be obtained from immigration but then , if you wish to remain in Thailand, you will have to obtain another type of visa from a Thai Embassy/Consulate in a nearby country.

Ok, I understand (finally..biggrin.png )

So I need to leave and get tourist visa and come back to sell my furnitures, motorbikes ect.

KL is the closest place from here, but I heard they don't make bouble entry tourist visas so easily...sad.png

Thank you all for making me understand!! wai.gif

If you want a double entry tourist visa the best place to obtain one would be Vientiane. Laos.

Yes. Laos is the best option.

Laos is just so far away right now (living in Phuket)...

Laos is just so far away right now (living in Phuket)...

It is not too bad. Air Asia has a direct flight from Phuket to Udon Thani. From there, it is a short hop to the border at Nong Khai.

Alternatively, if a single entry Thai visa will do you, you should be OK in Penang.

Actually I am just looking about it... It would be much cheaper to fly to Udon and go to Vientiane and back than go to KL and back... I am planning to travel around Thailand now when I will be finally "business free" and have a change to do it...mayby also some neighbour countries where I haven't been yet. Then mayby go back to Europe in next spring...

That is why mayby the single visa is good enought...but if I want double entry visa are they asking ticket away from Thailand or not in Vientiene? Is it enough to show them some bus ticket to some other country or do they need a flight information?

They will not require any onward tickets in Vientiane.

"That's why we keep stressing that a Visa" is not extended, only permission to stay.
