My new Australian passport should arrive by months end. My current Ext of stay is based on retirement and this expires on the date of my old passport.

I am aware I need to apply for a new ext of stay using my new passport.

Is there anything else I need to be aware of .. extra documents etc.?

Thanks

To do the stamp transfer to your new passport you will need copies of both passports photo pages, TM6 departure card and copies of your old passport pages that have any visas, extensions and etc for Thailand. Not all offices will want all of them but it is best to go prepared. You will also need need a letter from the embassy requesting the stamp transfer at most offices.

You should also complete this form. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/pdf/transferstamp.pdf

Thank you Joe appreciate the reply. Can this be done at my local Immi or is a trip to Bangkok? So I would need to transfer before applying for my new Retirement Ext of Stay or would they do it all at once?

You do it at your local immigration office.

You can do the transfer first and then the extension in the same trip to immigration.

Hey.

Where did you get your new passport?

I need one as well but have had no luck contacting the Honorary Consul in Phuket.

Aussie Embassy Website said Bangkok, so I did it in person there. Pretty straight forward. It arrived today Saturday and I did it last Friday. Very quick service.

may i know the letter content from the embassy? what info should contain in this letter?

It is a standard letter addressed to immigration which requests stamps be transferred from the old passport to the new one.

Most Embassy's provide the letter as a matter of routine when issuing a new passport.

What the letters says or the info it contains depends upon the embassy doing it. Some have a lot of info and other very little.

The letter I got from my embassy just stated that the person holding this letter got a new passport issued on xxxxx date and to please transfer the stamps and etc.

Is this neccessary to present this letter when informing the bank as the passport no has been changed as well.

No

It is only needed at immigration.

I didn't get a letter upon application for renewal rather they put a stamp in my passport where I have to put in the new number stating

"This passport has been cancelled and replaced by passport number _________. Any valid visas in this passport remain valid. Australian Embassy Bangkok".

Hope I don't have to go to Bangkok again!
